ACME Solar Holdings Limited has achieved a major milestone in India’s renewable energy sector by commissioning approximately 2.29 GWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity during the current financial year. With this latest addition, the company’s total operational BESS capacity has increased to approximately 3.62 GWh, making it one of the fastest battery storage capacity expansions in the country.

The milestone further strengthens ACME Solar’s position as a leading integrated renewable energy company, enhancing its ability to provide reliable, round-the-clock clean power while supporting grid stability and energy security.

BESS Capacity Reaches 3.62 GWh

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) play a crucial role in integrating renewable energy into the power grid by storing excess electricity generated during peak solar and wind production and supplying it when demand rises.

Following the latest commissioning, ACME Solar now operates approximately 3.62 GWh of battery storage capacity across three project locations in Rajasthan.

Technical Investigation Confirms Limited Damage

ACME Solar also provided an update regarding the localized incident reported on July 17, 2026, at its ACME Surabaya Battery Energy Storage System facility in Rajasthan.

The company announced that a comprehensive Technical Root Cause Analysis (RCA) has been completed.

The investigation concluded that the incident was caused by an electrical short circuit, which resulted in localized fire damage confined to the AC cables connecting the transformer and the Power Conversion System (PCS).

Importantly, the company confirmed that:

  • The incident remained localized.
  • Automated protection and safety systems functioned as designed.
  • No critical battery equipment suffered damage.
  • The event did not spread to other systems.

Restoration Completed Successfully

ACME Solar stated that restoration work has now been fully completed with support from its technical partners.

The affected facility has returned to full operational readiness, reflecting the company’s strong safety protocols, engineering expertise, and rapid response capabilities.

The successful restoration also demonstrates the resilience of modern utility-scale battery storage infrastructure when supported by advanced monitoring and protection systems.
