Big Win in Gujarat: Dilip Buildcon JV Emerges as Lowest Bidder for Sabarmati River Project

It’s a big week for Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL). The infrastructure giant just announced that their joint venture, DBL-RBL (JV), has officially been declared the L-1 (lowest) bidder for a major water infrastructure project in Gujarat.

This latest win further solidifies DBL’s reputation as a go-to player for complex, large-scale Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects in India.

What’s the Project?

The project is centered around the Sabarmati River in the Sabarkantha district. It’s not just a simple construction job; it’s a comprehensive design-and-build contract that includes:

  • The construction of the Ged Barrage.

  • Necessary protection work and allied activities.

  • Strategic location between the Hirpura barrage and Lakroda weir.

The Numbers and Timeline

The Narmada Water Resources Water Supply & Kalpasar Department (Government of Gujarat) has set the project cost at ₹268.00 Crores (excluding GST).

What makes this deal particularly interesting is the long-term commitment involved. While the actual construction is slated to be completed within 24 months, the contract also includes a 10-year Operation and Maintenance (O&M) period. This ensures that the DBL-RBL joint venture will be a key stakeholder in the project’s success for a decade after the gates open.

Transparency and Governance

In line with standard regulatory disclosures, DBL confirmed that:

  1. No Conflicts: Neither the promoters nor the promoter group have any interest in the awarding authority.

  2. No Related Party Deals: This is a straightforward domestic contract.

  3. Trading Window: For the investors out there, DBL’s trading window remains closed until 48 hours after the March 2026 quarterly results are declared.
