ToggleWhat’s the Project?
The project is centered around the Sabarmati River in the Sabarkantha district. It’s not just a simple construction job; it’s a comprehensive design-and-build contract that includes:
The construction of the Ged Barrage.
Necessary protection work and allied activities.
Strategic location between the Hirpura barrage and Lakroda weir.
The Numbers and Timeline
The Narmada Water Resources Water Supply & Kalpasar Department (Government of Gujarat) has set the project cost at ₹268.00 Crores (excluding GST).
What makes this deal particularly interesting is the long-term commitment involved. While the actual construction is slated to be completed within 24 months, the contract also includes a 10-year Operation and Maintenance (O&M) period. This ensures that the DBL-RBL joint venture will be a key stakeholder in the project’s success for a decade after the gates open.
Transparency and Governance
In line with standard regulatory disclosures, DBL confirmed that:
No Conflicts: Neither the promoters nor the promoter group have any interest in the awarding authority.
No Related Party Deals: This is a straightforward domestic contract.
Trading Window: For the investors out there, DBL’s trading window remains closed until 48 hours after the March 2026 quarterly results are declared.
