L&T Wins Large Grid Infrastructure Orders, Strengthening GCC Super Grid and Renewable Integration

L&T Wins Large Grid Infrastructure Orders

Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business has won a series of “Large” grid infrastructure contracts across the Middle East. As per L&T’s classification, projects in this category are valued between ₹2,500 crore and ₹5,000 crore.

These contracts aim to enhance regional grid reliability, meet rising energy demands, and support renewable energy integration in the GCC region.

Key Highlights

  1. UAE – 400 kV Substation for GCC Interconnection

    • L&T PT&D will engineer, procure, and construct a 400 kV substation in the UAE.

    • The project establishes a direct 400 kV interconnection linking Oman’s network with the GCC’s super grid.

    • This upgrade—transitioning from the existing 220 kV connection—will enable better utilization of generation capacity and improved grid resilience across GCC countries.

  2. Saudi Arabia – Renewable Energy Integration Project

    • L&T has also secured a turnkey order for 380 kV overhead transmission lines in Saudi Arabia.

    • These lines are designed to connect renewable energy power plants to the national grid, promoting cleaner energy distribution.

  3. Middle East – Expanding Power Demand Infrastructure

    • Another order involves constructing new 132 kV substations to meet the region’s rapidly growing electricity demand.

Together, these large-scale wins underscore L&T’s leadership in EPC and power infrastructure. With a legacy spanning eight decades and a turnover of over USD 30 billion, L&T continues to strengthen its global footprint through technological excellence, customer focus, and world-class project execution.
