BCL Industries Strengthens Bio-Fuel Leadership with 150 KLPD Ethanol Expansion
BCL Industries Limited has strengthened its presence in India’s rapidly growing biofuel sector by successfully commissioning a 150 KLPD (kilolitres per day) ethanol capacity expansion at its Bathinda manufacturing facility in Punjab. The expansion significantly enhances the company’s production capabilities and reinforces its position as one of India’s leading grain-based distillery operators.
With the commissioning of the new brownfield project, the total distillery capacity at the Bathinda plant has increased to 550 KLPD, supporting the company’s long-term growth strategy and India’s ambitious ethanol blending programme.
Brownfield Expansion Boosts Production Capacity
The newly commissioned facility is a brownfield expansion, meaning it has been developed by expanding the company’s existing infrastructure rather than building a completely new plant.
The additional 150 KLPD ethanol production capacity is expected to improve operational efficiencies, increase output, and enable BCL Industries to meet the rising demand for ethanol from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) under the Government of India’s ethanol blending initiative.
Expansion Supports India’s Biofuel Mission
India has been aggressively promoting ethanol production to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, improve energy security, and lower carbon emissions.
With the increased production capacity, BCL Industries is well-positioned to contribute to the country’s biofuel objectives while benefiting from the growing demand for grain-based ethanol.
The expansion also strengthens the company’s presence in one of the fastest-growing segments of the renewable energy industry.
Management Confident About Future Growth
Commenting on the development, Rajinder Mittal, Managing Director of BCL Industries Limited, said the successful commissioning of the Bathinda expansion represents another important milestone for the company.
He stated that the enhanced capacity further reinforces BCL Industries’ position among India’s largest grain-based distilleries and reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the Government’s biofuel initiatives and sustainable energy goals.
Positive Outlook for Ethanol Business
The commissioning comes at a time when ethanol demand continues to rise, driven by India’s focus on increasing ethanol blending in petrol and promoting cleaner fuel alternatives.
The expanded production capacity is expected to improve revenue opportunities, enhance economies of scale, and support the company’s long-term growth in the ethanol and renewable energy sectors.
With the Bathinda expansion now operational, BCL Industries is better positioned to capitalize on the growing opportunities in India’s biofuel market while contributing to the country’s clean energy transition.
