NRB Bearings Soars into Aerospace with Strategic Mahant Tool Room Acquisition, Targets $16.5 Bn Market

NRB Bearings Limited has completed the strategic acquisition of Mahant Tool Room (MTR) through its wholly owned subsidiary, Mahant Tool Room Private Limited (MTRPL), marking a major milestone in the company’s expansion into the global aerospace and defence industry.

The acquisition, completed on July 17, 2026, strengthens NRB Bearings’ capabilities in manufacturing high-precision components and supports its strategy to diversify beyond its core automotive and industrial bearings business.

AS9100D Certification Strengthens Aerospace Capabilities

Alongside the acquisition, MTRPL has received the prestigious AS9100D Certification for the manufacturing of precision-machined components and bearings for aerospace and defence applications.

The internationally recognized certification is a key requirement for supplying products to global aerospace and defence companies, enabling NRB Bearings to participate in highly regulated and quality-sensitive markets.

Entry into a High-Growth Global Market

With the acquisition, NRB Bearings is targeting opportunities in the global aerospace components industry, which the company estimates to be worth between $14.5 billion and $16.5 billion.

The company plans to manufacture mission-critical components, including:

  • Landing gear components
  • Fuel injection system parts
  • Plain spherical bearings
  • Precision aerospace bearings

The move significantly expands NRB’s addressable market while diversifying its revenue streams.

Supporting Long-Term Growth Strategy

The acquisition aligns with NRB Bearings’ long-term objective of doubling its consolidated revenue by 2031.

The company believes that combining Mahant Tool Room’s precision engineering expertise with NRB’s advanced bearing technologies and friction solutions will strengthen its position in both commercial aerospace and defence manufacturing.

The transaction also complements the company’s recently announced industrial bearings and friction solutions joint venture, further enhancing its engineering capabilities.

Management Commentary

Commenting on the development, Harshbeena Zaveri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of NRB Bearings, described the acquisition and the AS9100D certification as a transformational milestone for the company.

She said the certification enables NRB Bearings to supply high-performance, mission-critical precision components and aerospace bearings to leading global aerospace and defence manufacturers. She also noted that NRB is uniquely positioned as the only Indian company offering advanced bearings to the global aerospace industry.
