Pace Digital Establishes Battery R&D Centre in Pune, Partners with IISER to Advance Energy Storage Technologies

Pace Digital Limited has announced a major step toward strengthening India’s energy storage ecosystem with the establishment of the Pace-Lineage Research Center in Pune through its material subsidiary, Lineage Power Private Limited (LPPL). The company has also entered into a strategic research collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, to accelerate the development of next-generation battery technologies.

The initiative supports the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India programs by promoting indigenous research, innovation, and manufacturing in advanced energy storage solutions.

New R&D Centre to Focus on Advanced Battery Technologies

The newly established Pace-Lineage Research Center will serve as a dedicated hub for research, engineering, and product development in Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) and energy storage technologies.

The centre will focus on developing high-performance battery materials and improving the efficiency, durability, and safety of next-generation batteries.

Key Areas of Research

The research facility will concentrate on:

  • Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) technologies.
  • Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery materials.
  • Sodium-ion (Na-ion) battery materials.
  • Improving battery energy density and capacity.
  • Enhancing cycling stability and battery lifespan.
  • Optimizing material coatings and microstructure.
  • Developing advanced electrolyte formulations.
  • Evaluating and validating raw materials sourced from Indian suppliers.

The initiative aims to strengthen India’s domestic battery supply chain while reducing dependence on imported technologies and critical materials.

Collaboration with IISER Pune

To accelerate innovation, Lineage Power has partnered with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, one of India’s premier scientific research institutions.

The collaboration will combine academic research with industry expertise to develop cutting-edge battery materials and technologies that can be commercialized for industrial applications.

This partnership is expected to enhance research capabilities while supporting indigenous technology development for India’s rapidly growing energy storage sector.
