Bajel Projects Signs ₹400+ Crore Egypt Transmission Project, Strengthens MENA Presence

Bajel Projects Limited, a leading power transmission and infrastructure EPC company, has formally signed a landmark agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the construction of two sections of a 500 kV Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) in Egypt. Valued at more than ₹400 crore, the project marks another significant milestone in the company’s international expansion and reinforces its growing presence across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The agreement follows Bajel Projects’ earlier announcement made on April 29, 2026, confirming the award of the project.

Bajel Projects Signs Major Power Transmission Contract in Egypt

The formal agreement covers the construction of Lot 1 and Lot 5 of a 500 kV Overhead Transmission Line in the Greater Cairo region.

The project has been awarded by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and forms part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its high-voltage electricity transmission network and improve power evacuation across the country.

Key Project Highlights

  • Client: Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC)
  • Project: Construction of Lot 1 and Lot 5 of a 500 kV Overhead Transmission Line
  • Project Value: More than ₹400 crore
  • Location: Cairo, Egypt
  • Sector: Power Transmission Infrastructure

The project falls under Bajel Projects’ Ultra Mega order category and is expected to enhance the company’s international order book.

Supporting Egypt’s Grid Modernization

The transmission line project is a key component of Egypt’s national power infrastructure development programme.

The new 500 kV transmission corridor will help:

  • Strengthen the country’s high-voltage transmission network
  • Improve power evacuation capacity
  • Enhance grid reliability
  • Support rising electricity demand
  • Facilitate efficient transmission from generation centres to load centres

As Egypt continues investing in energy infrastructure, large-scale transmission projects remain critical for ensuring long-term energy security.

Expanding Presence Across the MENA Region

The Egypt project further strengthens Bajel Projects’ footprint in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The company has been steadily expanding its international operations through:

  • A joint venture in Saudi Arabia
  • A newly established subsidiary in Abu Dhabi, UAE
  • Growing participation in international transmission infrastructure projects

This latest order reinforces Bajel Projects’ strategy of diversifying geographically and increasing its presence in high-growth international markets.

Leadership Highlights Strategic Milestone

The agreement was signed by Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director & CEO of Bajel Projects, in the presence of Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to Egypt, along with senior officials from both countries.

Management noted that winning the project reflects growing international confidence in Bajel Projects’ engineering expertise, project execution capabilities, and ability to deliver complex extra-high-voltage transmission infrastructure.

The participation of the Indian Ambassador also highlights the strengthening economic and infrastructure cooperation between India and Egypt.

Strengthening International EPC Capabilities

With more than two decades of experience in power transmission engineering, Bajel Projects continues to execute high-voltage EPC projects across domestic and international markets.

The company specializes in:

  • Transmission lines
  • Substations
  • Power distribution infrastructure
  • Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) services

Its growing international portfolio supports its ambition of becoming a leading global transmission infrastructure company.
