Central Bank of India Reports 13.26% YoY Rise in Q1 FY27 Net Profit to ₹1,324 Crore; Advances Jump 28.58%

July 23, 2026: Central Bank of India has released the transcript of its Q1 FY27 earnings conference call, highlighting a strong financial performance for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The bank reported healthy growth in profitability, advances, deposits, and business volumes, while further strengthening its asset quality and capital position.

During the earnings call, M.V. Rao, Managing Director & CEO (or current MD & CEO as applicable in the transcript) highlighted the bank’s continued focus on sustainable credit growth, prudent risk management, and operational efficiency.

Strong Financial Performance

Central Bank of India delivered healthy year-on-year growth across its key financial metrics during the first quarter of FY27.

  • Net Profit: ₹1,324 crore, up 13.26% YoY
  • Net Interest Income (NII): ₹3,914 crore, an increase of 15.70% YoY
  • Total Income: ₹10,678 crore, up 3.08% YoY
  • Net Interest Margin (NIM): 3.06%
  • Return on Assets (ROA): 1.00%
  • Return on Equity (ROE): 14.92%, compared with 14.17% a year earlier

The improvement in profitability was supported by higher interest income, healthy credit growth, and continued operational efficiency.

Healthy Growth in Business

The bank continued to expand its balance sheet with strong growth in both advances and deposits.

Business Highlights

  • Total Global Business: ₹8.33 lakh crore, up 18.29% YoY
  • Gross Global Advances: ₹3.54 lakh crore, rising 28.58% YoY
  • Total Deposits: ₹4.79 lakh crore, growing 11.68% YoY
  • CASA Ratio: 46.61%
  • Savings Deposits: Increased 11.66% YoY
  • Credit-Deposit Ratio: Improved to 74.10%

The growth reflects sustained demand across retail, agriculture, MSME, and corporate lending segments.

Strong Growth in RAM Portfolio

The bank continued to strengthen its Retail, Agriculture, and MSME (RAM) business.

Segment-wise Growth

  • Retail Advances: ₹1,05,523 crore, up 23.92% YoY
  • Agriculture Advances: ₹64,274 crore, up 21.14% YoY
  • MSME Advances: ₹71,308 crore, up 18.03% YoY
  • Overall RAM Portfolio: Increased 21.38% YoY

The RAM-to-Corporate loan mix remained balanced at 68:32, in line with the bank’s strategic lending focus.

Asset Quality Continues to Improve

Central Bank of India reported further improvement in asset quality during the quarter.

Asset Quality Highlights

  • Gross NPA: Reduced to 2.60%
  • Net NPA: 0.49%
  • Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR): 95.86%

The declining NPA levels and high provision coverage indicate the bank’s continued focus on strengthening its loan book and maintaining prudent risk management practices.

Strong Capital Position

The bank maintained a comfortable capital buffer to support future business growth.

  • Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR): 18.28%
  • Tier-I Capital Ratio: 16.54%

The strong capital position provides sufficient flexibility to fund credit expansion while complying with regulatory requirements.
