Vedanta Oil And Gas Limited Reports ₹945 Crore Profit in Q1 FY27, Announces Deep Gas Discovery in Rajasthan

Vedanta Oil And Gas Limited (NSE: VOGEL | BSE: 544782) has reported a strong financial turnaround for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), marking its first earnings announcement since its public listing. The upstream oil and gas company posted a consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) of ₹945 crore, reversing losses reported in both the previous quarter and the corresponding quarter last year.

The company’s improved profitability was supported by higher commodity realizations, operational efficiencies, and disciplined cost management. Alongside its financial performance, Vedanta Oil & Gas also announced a significant deep gas discovery in Rajasthan, strengthening its long-term exploration and production outlook.

Q1 FY27 Financial Highlights

Vedanta Oil & Gas delivered a solid operational and financial performance during the quarter.

  • Revenue from Operations: ₹2,507 crore, up 9% year-on-year (YoY) from ₹2,303 crore in Q1 FY26. Revenue was marginally lower on a sequential basis compared to ₹2,584 crore in Q4 FY26.
  • EBITDA: ₹1,232 crore, representing a 16% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase from ₹1,057 crore in Q4 FY26. EBITDA was slightly lower than ₹1,272 crore reported in Q1 FY26.
  • Profit After Tax (PAT): ₹945 crore, compared to a loss of ₹480 crore in Q4 FY26 and a loss of ₹104 crore in Q1 FY26, reflecting a significant turnaround in profitability.

Stable Production Performance

The company maintained steady production across its upstream assets during the quarter.

  • Average Gross Operated Production: 77.7 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd).
  • Average Working Interest Production: 51.1 kboepd.
  • Total Gross Production Volume: 7.1 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe).
  • Working Interest Production: 4.7 million boe.

The flagship Rajasthan block remained the company’s largest producing asset, delivering an average gross production of 63.1 kboepd during the quarter.

Other producing assets also contributed to overall output:

  • CB-ONN-2003/1 Block: Approximately 0.5 kboepd.
  • Open Acreage Licensing Program (OALP) Assets: Around 3.1 kboepd.

Deep Gas Discovery in Rajasthan

In addition to its quarterly financial performance, Vedanta Oil & Gas announced a significant natural gas discovery at the Kama BCP-1ST exploration well.

The discovery was made under the company’s Deep Gas exploration campaign in the Kameshwari Graben area of the RJ-ON-90/1 block located in Rajasthan’s Barmer Basin.

The company stated that detailed technical studies and commercial evaluations are currently underway to assess the size of the reserves and determine the commercial viability of the discovery. If successfully developed, the find could further strengthen Vedanta Oil & Gas’ long-term production profile.

Management Commentary

Commenting on the results, Jim Johnny Geist, Interim CEO and Whole-Time Director, said that Q1 FY27 was a landmark quarter following the company’s successful listing on the stock exchanges. He emphasized that operational resilience, disciplined capital allocation, and continued exploration success remain central to the company’s strategy of offsetting natural production declines while driving sustainable volume growth.

Arpit Tandon, Chief Financial Officer, noted that stronger commodity realizations, a supportive pricing environment, and effective cost optimization played a key role in translating operational performance into a significant improvement in profitability.
