Salon Energy Q1 FY27 Earnings Call: Record 506 MW Deliveries and 6.1 GW Order Book

Suzlon Energy Limited has begun FY27 on a strong note, reporting its highest-ever first-quarter wind turbine deliveries despite temporary supply chain disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

During its Q1 FY27 earnings call, the company highlighted strong business growth, a healthy order pipeline, and ambitious expansion plans that position it well for India’s growing renewable energy market.

Record Q1 consolidated Performance

Suzlon delivered 506 MW of wind turbines during the first quarter, its highest-ever Q1 delivery.

The company reported:

  • Revenue: ₹3,819 crore, up 23% year-on-year
  • EBITDA: ₹595 crore
  • Profit Before Tax (PBT): ₹390 crore
  • Net Profit (PAT): ₹305 crore

Although some deliveries were delayed because of logistics and supply chain issues, Suzlon expects to recover these volumes in the coming quarters.

Strong Order Book Supports Future Growth

Suzlon’s order book remains healthy at 6.1 GW, reinforcing its leadership in the Indian wind energy market.

In just the first four months of FY27, the company secured nearly 1 GW of new orders, with around 60% coming through its new DevCo (Developer Company) model, which helps speed up project execution by providing ready land and connectivity.

India’s Wind Energy Market Has Huge Potential

According to Suzlon, India’s growing electricity demand is creating a major opportunity for renewable energy.

Factors driving demand include:

  • Rapid economic growth
  • Expansion of AI data centres
  • Electric vehicle adoption
  • Industrial growth
  • Rising cooling and power consumption

The company expects India’s annual wind installations to exceed 10 GW in the coming years and reach 15 GW by FY31.

Investing in New Technology

Suzlon is investing heavily in next-generation wind turbine technology.

The company recently launched its S175 5 MW turbine, which has already received its first customer order in India.

Suzlon is also expanding its manufacturing network with AI-enabled smart factories to improve efficiency and increase production capacity.

These investments are part of the company’s long-term Suzlon 2.0 growth strategy.

International Expansion Underway

Suzlon is preparing to expand its presence in global markets, including:

  • Europe
  • Australia
  • Latin America
  • Southeast Asia

The company plans to manufacture turbines in India and export them globally, focusing on technology, reliability, and energy efficiency rather than competing only on price.

Battery Storage and Solar Business

Suzlon is also expanding beyond wind energy.

The company is currently discussing strategic partnerships for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and is building capabilities in solar and hybrid renewable energy solutions.

Its long-term goal is to become a complete renewable energy solutions provider.

Repowering Creates a New Growth Opportunity

One of the biggest future opportunities for Suzlon is repowering older wind farms.

Many wind turbines installed in India 10–20 years ago use older technology and generate less electricity.

Replacing these with modern, high-capacity turbines could unlock nearly 25 GW of additional wind power potential.

Suzlon expects to secure its first repowering orders before the end of FY27.

Strong Financial Position

The company continues to maintain a strong balance sheet.

Key highlights include:

  • Net worth of ₹9,869 crore
  • Net cash position of ₹2,322 crore
  • Manufacturing capacity of 4.5 GW
  • Capital expenditure guidance of around ₹700 crore for FY27

Management said these investments will support future growth, technology development, and capacity expansion.

Outlook

Despite temporary supply chain disruptions during the quarter, Suzlon remains confident about the rest of FY27.

The company expects stronger execution in the second half of the year as delayed projects are commissioned.

With a large order book, continued investments in advanced turbine technology, expansion into global markets, battery storage, and repowering opportunities, Suzlon believes it is well positioned to benefit from India’s rapidly growing renewable energy sector.
