Ola Electric Launches Shakti Energy Storage Portfolio From Home to Grid
Bengaluru, August 17, 2026: Ola Electric Mobility Limited has announced its entry into the broader energy storage market with the launch of the Ola Shakti energy storage portfolio, expanding the company’s battery technology beyond electric vehicles.
The new portfolio is built around indigenous LFP battery technology and Ola Electric’s vertically integrated cell-to-system capabilities. It is designed to address energy storage requirements ranging from residential backup to commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications.
Ola Shakti Portfolio Covers Home to Grid
The company has structured its new energy storage portfolio across three broad applications:
- Shakti Gen2: Residential energy storage
- Shakti Rack: Commercial and infrastructure applications
- Mahashakti: Industrial and utility-scale energy storage
According to Ola Electric, the portfolio is designed to store energy when it is available and deploy it when required, including applications such as home backup, solar energy storage, renewable-energy management and grid support.
Shakti Gen2: Home Energy Storage
Shakti Gen2 is Ola Electric’s residential energy storage solution, combining battery backup, energy management and solar storage.
It will be available in two configurations:
- 4.6 kWh / 3 kW
- 9.2 kWh / 6 kW
Ola Electric says the systems can provide approximately 1.5 hours of backup at full load.
The products also support solar energy storage through MPPT technology and can be monitored through the Ola Shakti app.
Shakti Gen2 Price and Delivery
The introductory price of the 4.6 kWh model is ₹99,999, while the 9.2 kWh model is priced at ₹1,74,999.
Reservations are open for ₹999, with deliveries scheduled to begin in November 2026.
Shakti Solar Charge Controller
Ola Electric has also introduced the Shakti Solar Charge Controller for homes with solar installations.
The standalone MPPT controller will be available in 3 kW and 6 kW configurations and is designed to enable high-efficiency solar charging and integration with the Shakti energy storage system.
Shakti Rack for Commercial Applications
Ola Electric is extending its energy storage technology into commercial applications through the Shakti AC Rack and Shakti DC Rack.
Shakti AC Rack
The AC Rack is designed for commercial establishments and combines battery storage with an integrated inverter.
Key specifications include:
- 73 kWh capacity
- 18-50 kW inverter
- 415 V three-phase AC
- Integrated inverter
Potential applications include facility backup, peak shaving, energy optimisation and modular capacity expansion.
Shakti DC Rack
The DC Rack is designed for telecom and other DC infrastructure applications.
It offers:
- 38-77 kWh per rack
- 48 V DC
- LFP battery technology
- Air-cooled design
The system is designed for direct DC power applications, critical infrastructure backup and modular capacity expansion.
Both Shakti Rack products are scheduled to become available from March 2027.
Mahashakti Targets Industrial and Utility-Scale Storage
At the larger end of the portfolio, Ola Electric has introduced Mahashakti for industrial, commercial and utility-scale applications.
The Mahashakti Rack offers:
- 257 kWh capacity
- 125 kW power
- Integrated PCS
- 415 V three-phase AC
- Liquid-cooled architecture
The system is aimed at manufacturing facilities, commercial buildings, warehouses, retail businesses and digital infrastructure.
6.26 MWh Mahashakti for Utility-Scale Projects
For utility-scale and large industrial applications, Ola Electric has introduced a 6.26 MWh Mahashakti container.
The system has:
- 6.26 MWh capacity
- 2.5 MW power
- 1,331.2 V DC
- Liquid-cooled architecture
- Configurable 2-4 hour duration
Potential applications include renewable-energy management, peak shifting, energy arbitrage and grid support.
Ola Electric said the architecture can scale from a single container to GWh-scale energy storage plants.
Up to 20 GWh Battery Storage Opportunity With Axis Energy
Ola Electric has already signed an MoU with Axis Energy for the potential deployment of up to 20 GWh of battery energy storage systems by 2032 under the Mahashakti platform.
The company described the potential deployment as one of the largest announced domestic deployments of indigenous battery storage technology.
Ola Electric Uses Indigenous LFP Technology
The Shakti portfolio will use LFP battery technology, supported by Ola Electric’s Krishnagiri Gigafactory and its existing distribution network.
The company is positioning the products as a cell-to-pack vertically integrated energy storage offering.
Ola Electric expects its integrated approach to provide benefits in areas such as:
- Safety
- Supply-chain security
- Total cost of ownership
- Battery technology integration
Ola Electric Expands Beyond EVs
The Shakti launch represents a strategic expansion for Ola Electric beyond electric mobility.
The company said its battery and cell technology can be used across multiple energy-storage applications, allowing the same underlying technology capabilities to address residential, commercial, industrial and grid-scale requirements.
Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal said Ola Shakti extends the company’s battery and cell innovation from the home to the grid and represents a natural next step in leveraging its Gigafactory, indigenous LFP cells and nationwide network.
