EPFO Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026: One-Time Opportunity for Employers to Enrol Eligible Workers Before October 31
New Delhi, August 22, 2026: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has urged establishments to take advantage of the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026 (EEC 2026), a special one-time initiative aimed at bringing eligible employees who remained outside EPF coverage into the statutory social security system.
The campaign, notified with effect from June 29, 2026, covers eligible employees who remained outside EPF coverage during the period from April 1, 2009, to March 31, 2026. Employers have time until October 31, 2026, to complete the enrolment process under the campaign.
EPFO Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026
According to the Ministry of Labour & Employment, EEC 2026 provides employers with an opportunity to voluntarily declare and enrol eligible employees who were previously left outside EPF coverage during the specified period.
The initiative is designed to facilitate voluntary compliance and extend the benefits of provident fund, pension and insurance to eligible workers.
However, employees declared under the campaign must meet the prescribed conditions. They should be alive and continuing in employment with the establishment on the date of declaration.
Employee Share Waiver Under EEC 2026
One of the important relaxations under the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026 relates to the employee’s contribution.
Where the employee’s share was not deducted earlier, the campaign provides for a waiver of the employee’s share, subject to the applicable conditions under EEC 2026.
This relaxation is intended to make it easier for employers to regularise past EPF compliance and bring eligible workers within the social security framework.
How Employers Can Enrol Employees Under EEC 2026
Employers participating in the campaign are required to complete the enrolment and contribution process through the prescribed online mechanism.
For each employee declared under the campaign:
- A Face Authentication-based Universal Account Number (UAN) is to be generated through the UMANG App.
- The employer has to complete the required enrolment process.
- Contributions are required to be remitted through the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR).
- Employers should review their employment and wage records to identify eligible employees who remained outside EPF coverage during the specified period.
The process is intended to provide a structured mechanism for regularising eligible employees under the EPF system.
EEC 2026 Campaign Deadline
The Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026 will remain open until October 31, 2026.
EPFO has encouraged employers not to wait until the last date and to review their employment records and identify eligible employees at the earliest.
The organisation is also conducting awareness and outreach programmes to communicate the key provisions of the campaign to employers, employees, establishments, contractors and other stakeholders.
Government Organisations Encouraged to Promote Campaign
The Ministry of Labour & Employment said that various government bodies and organisations are being encouraged to support wider dissemination of EEC 2026.
These include Central Government Ministries and Departments, State Governments and Union Territories, Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous Bodies and other organisations.
The objective is to ensure that establishments and service providers under their administrative control are aware of the campaign and can take appropriate action before the deadline.
Why EEC 2026 Matters for Employees
The campaign could help bring previously uncovered eligible employees under India’s formal social security framework.
EPF coverage can provide workers with access to provident fund savings, pension-related benefits and insurance benefits, subject to the applicable provisions and eligibility requirements.
For employers, the campaign offers a defined mechanism to review historical employment records and regularise eligible cases under the special provisions of EEC 2026.

What Employers Should Do Now
Employers should review their employment and wage records to identify workers who may have remained outside EPF coverage during the specified period. Eligible employees should then be enrolled through the prescribed online process and the required contributions remitted through ECR.
With the deadline set for October 31, 2026, EPFO has urged establishments to make use of this one-time opportunity to extend statutory social security coverage to eligible employees.
