Tata Elxsi and Sarla Aviation Partner to Accelerate Shunya eVTOL Development
Bengaluru, September 1, 2026: Tata Elxsi has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian advanced air mobility company Sarla Aviation to support the development of Shunya, a six-seater plus one pilot electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The partnership brings together Sarla Aviation’s aircraft development capabilities with Tata Elxsi’s expertise in aerospace engineering, flight-critical software, avionics, testing and digital engineering.
The companies announced the collaboration on September 1, with the partnership aimed at supporting Shunya’s development, testing, certification and eventual path toward its first flight.
Tata Elxsi to Support Flight-Critical Systems
Under the MoU, Tata Elxsi will provide engineering support across several areas of Shunya’s development.
