The proposed acquisition involves a wind power project with an operational capacity of around 5.1 MW. The total value of the transaction is estimated to be between ₹20 crore and ₹25 crore.
This move comes shortly after Indowind Energy successfully completed a rights issue, through which it raised ₹49.42 crore. The fresh capital provides financial flexibility for the company to pursue strategic expansion opportunities.
Strategic Rationale Behind the Acquisition
By acquiring an already operational asset, Indowind aims to add stable and immediate power generation capacity to its existing renewable energy platform. The acquisition, once completed and approved by relevant statutory and regulatory authorities, will also open up opportunities for future improvements.
The company plans to explore:
Repowering options to enhance the efficiency and output of the wind project
Hybrid renewable solutions, including the possible addition of a solar power facility at the same site, subject to approvals
Improved asset utilization, leading to better revenue generation and long-term profitability
These initiatives align with Indowind’s goal of maximizing returns from its renewable assets while supporting India’s clean energy transition.
