Cochin Shipyard Bags ₹5,000 Crore Defence Order for Next-Gen Naval Vessels

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has been declared the lowest bidder (L1) in a major defence tender floated by the Ministry of Defence for the construction of five Next Generation Survey Vessels (NGSVs) for the Indian Navy.

According to the company’s regulatory disclosure dated 16 February 2026, the estimated total value of the order is approximately ₹5,000 crore. The contract pertains to the construction of five advanced survey vessels intended to strengthen India’s naval hydrographic and maritime capabilities.
