Suzlon Energy’s S175 Wind Turbine Secures Landmark 105 MW Debut Order from Sunsure Energy

India’s renewable energy landscape just got a significant boost as Suzlon Energy Limited announced a pivotal 105 MW order from Sunsure Energy. This isn’t just another contract; it marks the powerful commercial debut of Suzlon’s S175 (5.0 MW) wind turbine, a next-generation marvel poised to reshape the nation’s wind power capabilities.

Secured just two weeks after its launch, this order underscores robust market confidence in Suzlon’s technological prowess. The S175 is India’s tallest and most powerful wind turbine, featuring a 175-meter rotor and a 160-meter hybrid lattice tower. Engineered to tap into stronger, more stable wind regimes, it promises higher energy yields and superior project economics, effectively opening up previously unviable sites for wind energy development.

The 105 MW project, comprising 21 S175 WTGs, will be installed in Bijapur, Karnataka. This contract further deepens Suzlon’s relationship with Sunsure Energy, marking their third order in 14 months and elevating their cumulative partnership to an impressive 400.8 MW. Sunsure Energy, backed by a USD 400 million equity commitment from Partners Group AG, aims for a 10 GW platform by 2030, prioritizing firm and dispatchable clean energy solutions.

This deal highlights a dynamic phase in India’s Commercial & Industrial (C&I) renewable market. As Sunsure’s Co-Founder, Manish Mehta, emphasized, the S175 is “purpose-built for firm and dispatchable power,” making it ideal for seamless integration into hybrid and Round-The-Clock (RTC) solutions—a critical need for India’s accelerating electrification and manufacturing growth. For Suzlon, with its ~21.7 GW global installed capacity and FY26 revenues of USD 1.75+ billion, this debut order solidifies its leadership position and innovation-led product strategy in the global clean energy transition.
