Enviro Infra Engineers Secures ₹256.92 Crore Energy-Efficient Varanasi STP Orders, Bolstering HAM Portfolio

India’s mission to build sustainable water infrastructure has received another major boost. Enviro Infra Engineers Limited (EIEL) has secured two new Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) projects worth a combined ₹256.92 crore from the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Rural) under the Namami Gange Programme.

The projects focus on developing advanced sewage treatment infrastructure in Varanasi, reinforcing EIEL’s position as one of India’s leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies in the water and wastewater management sector.

Two Major Sewage Treatment Projects

The newly awarded contracts include the construction of two energy-efficient sewage treatment plants (STPs), along with associated infrastructure and long-term operations and maintenance.

1. 45 MLD STP at Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Nagar (DDU Nagar)

  • Project Value: ₹126.78 crore (excluding GST)
  • Capacity: 45 Million Litres per Day (MLD)
  • Construction of the sewage treatment plant and related infrastructure.
  • Includes 15 years of Operations & Maintenance (O&M).

2. 60 MLD STP at Lohta, Varanasi

  • Project Value: ₹130.14 crore (excluding GST)
  • Capacity: 60 Million Litres per Day (MLD)
  • Development of modern sewage treatment facilities and supporting infrastructure.
  • Includes 15 years of Operations & Maintenance (O&M).

Together, these projects are valued at ₹256.92 crore, significantly strengthening the company’s long-term order book.

Expands EIEL’s Hybrid Annuity Model Portfolio

With these latest wins, Enviro Infra Engineers has expanded its HAM portfolio to five projects, highlighting its growing expertise in executing long-term public infrastructure projects.

The Hybrid Annuity Model provides stable revenue visibility by combining government support during construction with annuity payments over the operational period, making it an attractive business model for infrastructure developers.

Focus on Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Infrastructure

One of the most notable features of these projects is their emphasis on sustainability.

Both sewage treatment plants are designed to become largely self-sufficient in terms of energy consumption by incorporating:

  • Biogas-based power generation using sludge produced during sewage treatment.
  • Solar power installations to reduce dependence on conventional electricity.
  • Energy-efficient plant design aimed at lowering operational costs.
  • Reduced carbon emissions and improved environmental performance.

These green technologies are expected to improve long-term operational efficiency while supporting India’s broader clean energy and environmental goals.

Management’s View

Commenting on the development, Sanjay Jain, Chairman of Enviro Infra Engineers Limited, said the company is honoured to receive these important projects under the Namami Gange Programme.

He emphasized that EIEL remains committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable, and timely infrastructure solutions that contribute to India’s water management, sanitation, and environmental objectives.

Financial Readiness for Project Execution

The company has also announced that it has already obtained in-principle approvals for term loans for both projects. This financial preparedness is expected to enable smooth project mobilization and timely execution without significant funding delays.
