Om Power Transmission Bags Rs. 82.17 Crore Contract for Gujarat’s Power Grid Modernization

Om Power Transmission Limited (NSE: OMPOWER) has secured a new turnkey engineering contract worth ₹82.17 crore from Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL), further strengthening its order book and expanding its presence in India’s power transmission and distribution sector.

The project involves the modernization of electricity distribution infrastructure in the Kaliabid Subdivision (Part-2) of Bhavnagar Circle, Gujarat, where the company will replace the existing overhead power distribution network with an advanced underground cable system integrated with a Ring Main System (RMS).

Major Infrastructure Upgrade in Gujarat

Under the turnkey contract, Om Power Transmission will convert the existing 11 kV High Tension (HT) lines, Low Tension (LT) lines, and consumer service lines into an underground cable network. The project is expected to improve the reliability, safety, and efficiency of power distribution while supporting the modernization of Gujarat’s electricity infrastructure.

The company is scheduled to complete the project within 18 months from the date of the work order.

Contract Highlights

  • Order Value: ₹82.17 crore (including GST)
  • Customer: Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL)
  • Project Location: Kaliabid Subdivision (Part-2), Bhavnagar Circle, Gujarat
  • Scope of Work: Turnkey conversion of existing HT, LT, and consumer service lines into an underground cable network with Ring Main System
  • Execution Timeline: 18 months

Strengthening Power Distribution Infrastructure

The shift from conventional overhead power lines to underground cabling is an important step toward creating a more resilient and efficient electricity distribution network. Underground cable systems are less vulnerable to weather-related disruptions, require lower maintenance, improve public safety, and reduce technical losses.

The integration of a Ring Main System will further enhance network reliability by ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply and enabling faster fault isolation and restoration.

Order Enhances Revenue Visibility

The latest contract provides Om Power Transmission with healthy revenue visibility over the next 18 months while reinforcing its position as a trusted EPC contractor in the power infrastructure sector. The award also reflects the company’s technical capabilities in executing complex turnkey transmission and distribution projects for state-owned power utilities.

As utilities across India continue investing in grid modernization and underground power distribution networks, the company is well positioned to benefit from the growing pipeline of infrastructure projects.
