Ola Electric Opens Dealer Network Across India, Targets Nationwide Expansion by Diwali 2026

Ola Electric Mobility Ltd. has announced a significant change in its retail strategy by opening its nationwide sales and service network to dealer partners. The move marks a new phase in the company’s growth as it seeks to expand its presence across India and accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption.

After building India’s largest company-owned EV retail network over the past five years, Ola Electric is now transitioning to a hybrid model where dealer partners will drive local sales and service, while company-owned stores will focus on delivering premium brand and product experiences.

The company aims to establish a full-fledged dealership footprint across the country by Diwali 2026.

A New Chapter in Ola Electric’s Growth

When Ola Electric launched its first electric scooters, it relied entirely on company-owned experience centres to educate customers, build trust in EVs, and establish its brand.

That strategy helped the company create India’s largest EV two-wheeler customer base, with over one million riders.

Now that the Indian EV market has matured, the company believes local dealer partners are better positioned to take EVs deeper into cities and towns across the country.

Under the new model:

  • Company-owned stores will focus on brand experience and product demonstrations.
  • Dealer partners will handle local sales, customer engagement, and after-sales service.
  • The approach is expected to improve market penetration and customer accessibility nationwide.

Dealer Partners to Drive Local Growth

Ola Electric said it has spent the past month engaging with dealers across India and has received a positive response.

According to the company, dealers are confident that combining Ola’s strong brand recognition with their understanding of local markets can significantly increase EV adoption.

Dealer partners will receive access to:

  • India’s largest EV two-wheeler customer base of over 1 million users
  • Ola’s complete product portfolio, including:
    • Electric scooters
    • Electric motorcycles
    • Ola Shakti energy products
    • Future energy solutions
  • A dealer business model designed to generate sustainable returns
  • Service opportunities from a rapidly expanding installed customer base

Bhavish Aggarwal: Time to Take EVs to Every Corner of India

Commenting on the announcement, Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Ola Electric, said the decision reflects the evolution of India’s electric vehicle industry.

He explained that company-owned stores were essential during the early years to build customer trust in electric vehicles. As consumer acceptance has increased, dealer partners can now help bring EVs to every town and neighbourhood across India through their local market expertise.

According to Aggarwal, company stores will continue to showcase the brand and products, while dealer partners will become the primary growth engine for expanding sales and service nationwide.

Industry Veteran BVR Subbu Returns to Ola Electric

To support the rollout of the new dealership model, BVR Subbu, former President of Hyundai Motor India, has rejoined Ola Electric as Senior Advisor.

Subbu had previously served on the company’s board and has been a long-time mentor to Bhavish Aggarwal.

His experience in building one of India’s largest automotive distribution networks is expected to play a key role in scaling Ola Electric’s dealer ecosystem.

Why This Expansion Matters

The transition to a dealer-led network could be an important milestone for Ola Electric.

Some potential advantages include:

  • Faster expansion into Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities
  • Improved customer service through local dealerships
  • Better availability of vehicles and spare parts
  • Stronger after-sales support
  • Increased reach without relying solely on company-owned outlets

The hybrid retail model also allows Ola Electric to balance brand control with the scalability offered by local entrepreneurs.

Strengthening India’s EV Ecosystem

Ola Electric’s expansion comes at a time when electric vehicle adoption in India continues to gain momentum.

The company believes dealer partners will play an important role in:

  • Increasing EV awareness in smaller markets
  • Expanding charging and service accessibility
  • Supporting higher sales volumes
  • Improving the overall ownership experience

By combining its technology platform, manufacturing capabilities, and dealer network, Ola Electric aims to make electric mobility more accessible across the country.
