Exide Industries Highlights Strong Core Business and Lithium-Ion Expansion in Q1 FY27 Investor Presentation

Exide Industries Limited has released its Q1 FY27 Investor Presentation, highlighting the strength of its core battery business and the continued progress of its advanced lithium-ion battery manufacturing initiative. The company continues to maintain a zero-debt balance sheet, supported by strong liquidity and ICRA AAA/Stable and A1+ credit ratings, while investing in India’s growing new-energy ecosystem.

Key Q1 FY27 Highlights

Exide continues to strengthen its leadership in conventional lead-acid batteries while advancing its lithium-ion business through Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL).

Key operational highlights include:

  • Lithium-Ion Investment: Cumulative capital expenditure has reached ₹4,902 crore towards the company’s advanced chemistry cell manufacturing facility in Bengaluru and the battery pack and module manufacturing facility at Prantij, Gujarat, operated by Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL).
  • Gigafactory Progress: The Bengaluru gigafactory has operationalized utilities across all production lines, while production stabilization, customer validation, homologation, and OEM qualification activities are underway. The company expects revenue generation from the gigafactory during FY27.
  • Financial Strength: Exide continues to maintain a zero-debt balance sheet, healthy liquidity, and strong cash flows backed by ICRA AAA/Stable and A1+ credit ratings.

Extensive Manufacturing and Distribution Network

Exide has established a comprehensive manufacturing and distribution network across India.

Its manufacturing footprint comprises:

  • 16 manufacturing facilities across India.
  • 11 manufacturing plants operated by Exide Industries.
  • 2 battery manufacturing facilities under Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL).
  • 3 lead recycling plants operated by Chloride Metals Limited (CML).

The company also maintains an extensive sales and service network comprising:

  • More than 120,000 customer touchpoints across India.
  • Presence in 18,000+ villages.
  • Around 60 warehouses supporting nationwide distribution.
  • Long-standing relationships with over 75 leading automotive OEMs.

Advancing India’s Lithium-Ion Battery Ecosystem

As part of its long-term growth strategy, Exide is expanding its advanced battery manufacturing capabilities through global technology partnerships and decades of in-house research and development.

The company’s lithium-ion portfolio includes multiple battery chemistries such as:

  • Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP)
  • Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC)

These batteries are being manufactured in both cylindrical and prismatic cell formats to serve applications across:

  • Electric mobility
  • Stationary energy storage
  • Battery packs and modules for OEMs and energy storage solutions

Lead Recycling Strengthens Sustainability

Exide’s integrated lead recycling operations, managed through Chloride Metals Limited, play an important role in improving raw material availability, strengthening supply chain resilience, controlling input costs, and supporting the company’s circular economy and sustainability initiatives.
