NRB Industrial Bearings Acquires 9.08% Stake in Lok Green Energy India Private Limited for Captive Solar Power

NRB Industrial Bearings Limited (NIBL) has announced its financial results for the first quarter of FY2027 along with a strategic investment in renewable energy. The company’s Board of Directors approved the unaudited financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, and also approved participation in a captive solar power project through an equity investment in Lok Green Energy India Private Limited.

NRB Industrial Bearings Q1 FY27 Financial Highlights

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, NRB Industrial Bearings reported:

Particulars Q1 FY27 Q1 FY26 YoY Change

Earnings Per Share (EPS) -₹2.77 -₹2.18

The company continued to remain in the red during the quarter as expenses exceeded revenue. However, revenue from operations remained largely stable compared to the same period last year.

Key Operational Challenges

The company disclosed that it continues to have:

  • Negative net worth.
  • Net current liabilities of approximately ₹19.44 crore.
  • Ongoing efforts to improve profitability through higher sales and tighter cost control.

Management stated that the promoter has provided financial support through a commitment letter, allowing the company to continue preparing its financial statements on a going concern basis.

NRB Industrial Bearings Bets on Renewable Energy

Alongside its quarterly results, the Board approved participation in a captively owned solar power project by acquiring 9.08% equity in Lok Green Energy India Private Limited. The investment forms part of the company’s long-term sustainability and energy cost optimization strategy.

The company plans to invest up to ₹42 lakh in Lok Green Energy India Private Limited through cash consideration.

Why the Solar Investment Matters

According to the company, the investment has three primary objectives:

  • Meet its green energy requirements.
  • Reduce long-term electricity costs.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements relating to captive power consumption.

About the Solar Project

Lok Green Energy India Private Limited is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) established for developing a captive solar power plant.

The company was incorporated in September 2022 specifically to develop the solar project. Since it is still under development, it has not generated any revenue in FY23, FY24 or FY25.

Timeline for Completion

The acquisition is expected to be completed within 90 days from the execution of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Share Subscription Agreement and Shareholders’ Agreement.

Strategic Perspective

Although NRB Industrial Bearings continues to face profitability challenges, its investment in captive renewable energy reflects a longer-term strategy aimed at lowering operating costs and improving sustainability. Manufacturing companies are increasingly adopting captive solar projects to hedge against rising electricity prices while meeting ESG and regulatory goals.

If successfully implemented, the project could help reduce energy expenses over the coming years, supporting the company’s broader turnaround efforts.
