Lupin Launches Sugammadex Injection in the US Following FDA Approval

Lupin Limited has announced the commercial launch of Sugammadex Injection in the United States after receiving approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA). The launch further strengthens Lupin’s injectable product portfolio and reinforces its commitment to expanding its presence in the U.S. generic pharmaceuticals market.

Sugammadex Injection Now Available in Two Strengths

Lupin’s Sugammadex Injection is being introduced in two single-dose vial presentations designed for use in hospital and surgical settings:

  • 200 mg/2 mL (100 mg/mL) single-dose vial
  • 500 mg/5 mL (100 mg/mL) single-dose vial

The product is a bioequivalent generic version of Bridion® Injection, marketed by Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC, and is approved for the same therapeutic use.

Used to Reverse Neuromuscular Blockade During Surgery

Sugammadex Injection is indicated for the reversal of neuromuscular blockade induced by rocuronium bromide or vecuronium bromide in adult and pediatric patients aged two years and above undergoing surgery.

The medication helps patients recover normal muscle function after surgical procedures requiring muscle relaxants, making it an important product for hospitals and healthcare providers.

Strengthening Lupin’s US Business

The launch reflects Lupin’s continued focus on expanding its portfolio of complex generic and injectable medicines in one of its largest international markets.

The United States remains a key growth market for the company, where it has established a strong presence across multiple therapeutic areas, including:

  • Respiratory
  • Cardiovascular
  • Diabetes care
  • Central nervous system (CNS)
  • Anti-infectives
  • Injectable pharmaceuticals

By adding Sugammadex Injection to its portfolio, Lupin continues to enhance its range of high-value generic medicines available to U.S. healthcare providers.

Focus on Innovation and Global Expansion

Lupin operates 15 manufacturing facilities and seven research and development centres across the world. The company continues to invest in developing complex generic medicines, specialty pharmaceuticals, and innovative drug delivery technologies.

The latest U.S. launch highlights Lupin’s strategy of bringing high-quality, affordable treatment options to patients while expanding its global pharmaceutical footprint.
