Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Accelerates with 46% Q1 FY27 Sales Surge, EV Volumes Double

Mumbai, July 1, 2026 – Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited (formerly Tata Motors Limited) has kicked off the new fiscal year with remarkable momentum, reporting an impressive 46% year-on-year growth in its Q1 FY27 sales. The company announced today a total sale of 182,574 cars and SUVs for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, a significant leap from 124,809 units in Q1 FY26. This performance underscores robust customer demand and strategic success in a competitive market.

Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., highlighted the “industry beating growth,” attributing it to strong customer interest and the positive reception of recent product launches. The company’s domestic passenger vehicle sales mirrored this upward trend, climbing 45% to 180,166 units.

Perhaps the most striking aspect of the quarterly report is the exceptional growth in electric vehicle (EV) adoption. Tata Motors’ EV volumes more than doubled, recording a phenomenal 112% year-on-year increase with 34,467 units sold. This further solidifies the company’s leadership in India’s rapidly expanding EV segment. June 2026 alone saw the highest-ever monthly EV sales, reaching 14,800 units, nearly tripling last year’s figures.

Q1 FY27 Key Sales Highlights:

  • Total Cars & SUVs: 182,574 units (+46% YoY)
  • Domestic Passenger Vehicles: 180,166 units (+45% YoY)
  • Electric Vehicles (Domestic + IB): 34,467 units (+112% YoY)

With a strong order book and exciting product pipeline, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles remains confident in sustaining its growth trajectory through the remainder of the year. The impressive Q1 results paint a vibrant picture for the future of India’s automotive landscape, led by Tata’s innovation and customer focus.
