Adani Energy Solutions Wins Rs 8,500 Cr Transmission Project in Via
Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL), India’s largest private-sector transmission and distribution company, has secured a major interstate power transmission project in Andhra Pradesh worth approximately ₹8,500 crore. The project was awarded under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism, with AESL emerging as the successful bidder.
The project will strengthen transmission infrastructure to support upcoming green hydrogen, green ammonia, and data centre developments in the state, further reinforcing AESL’s leadership in India’s energy transition.
Project Highlights
The project involves the development of the “Transmission System for Proposed Green Hydrogen/Green Ammonia Projects in the Kakinada Area, Andhra Pradesh (Phase-I).”
Key features include:
- Project Value: Approximately ₹8,500 crore.
- Award Mechanism: Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB).
- Execution Entity: Kakinada Power Transmission Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).
- Completion Timeline: 30 months from the date of award.
Major Infrastructure Development
Under the project, AESL will develop significant transmission infrastructure, including:
- 1,582 circuit kilometres (CKM) of transmission lines.
- 10,500 MVA of transformation capacity.
The infrastructure will support an estimated 4,500 MW of electricity demand arising from:
- Green hydrogen manufacturing projects.
- Green ammonia production facilities.
- Large-scale hyperscale data centres.
- Other industrial and digital infrastructure developments.
New Substations to Strengthen the Grid
As part of the project, AESL will establish two major substations:
- A 4 × 1,500 MVA, 765/400 kV GIS substation at Kakinada.
- A 3 × 1,500 MVA, 765/400 kV substation at Kakinada-II.
These assets are expected to improve grid reliability and ensure uninterrupted power supply for the region’s rapidly expanding industrial ecosystem.
Transmission Order Book Crosses ₹80,000 Crore
Following this project award, Adani Energy Solutions’ transmission order book has expanded to more than ₹80,000 crore, reflecting the company’s strong project execution capabilities and growing role in India’s power infrastructure sector.
The company’s transmission network now includes:
- 29,531 circuit kilometres (CKM) of transmission lines.
- 1,33,675 MVA of transformation capacity across India.

The project aligns with India’s broader clean energy and industrial development objectives.
