RVNL Receives ₹903 Crore Letter of Award from SJVN Thermal for Buxar Thermal Power Project

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has received a Letter of Award (LoA) worth ₹903.01 crore from SJVN Thermal Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited, for railway infrastructure work associated with the 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project in Bihar.

RVNL disclosed the development in a regulatory filing dated September 4, 2026, under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations.

₹903 Crore Order for Buxar Thermal Power Project

The order is valued at ₹903,00,68,492, including GST.

RVNL will undertake the construction of a permanent railway siding along with an aerial connection via track from the plant boundary to Chausa and Pawani Kamarpur at Buxar, Bihar.

The work forms part of Phase III of the railway infrastructure requirements for the 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project (BTPP) of SJVN Thermal Private Limited.

36-Month Execution Period

The project is scheduled to be completed within 36 months.

This provides RVNL with revenue visibility from the project over a three-year execution period, subject to project progress and the applicable contract terms.

Domestic Infrastructure Order

The contract has been awarded by a domestic entity and falls within RVNL’s normal course of business.

The project involves railway connectivity infrastructure for a large thermal power project, adding to RVNL’s portfolio of railway and infrastructure execution projects.

No Promoter Interest or Related-Party Transaction

RVNL stated that the promoter, promoter group and group companies have no interest in SJVN Thermal Private Limited, the entity awarding the contract.

The company also confirmed that the order does not fall under related-party transactions.

Why the Order Matters for RVNL Investors

The ₹903 crore LoA is a sizeable order win for RVNL, adding to the company’s order pipeline and providing execution visibility for the next 36 months.

The contract also highlights RVNL’s role in developing railway connectivity for major infrastructure and power projects.

For investors, the key factors to monitor will be order execution, revenue recognition, project margins and further order inflows. The ₹903 crore contract value should not be treated as equivalent to immediate revenue or profit, as financial benefits will be recognized progressively during project execution.
