Solarworld Energy Solutions Limited (SOLARWORLD) has announced a breakthrough in India’s renewable energy landscape with the signing of a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA). The agreement, executed on December 8, 2025, marks a significant step forward in large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) deployment in the country.

Project Scale & Strategic Location

The newly awarded project involves the development of a 200 MW / 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System—one of the substantial BESS capacities sanctioned in the state of Gujarat.

This system is designed to support grid stability, ensure reliable power delivery, and enable better integration of renewable sources like solar and wind.

Contract Details & Commercial Value

Awarding Authority

The contract has been awarded by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), the state’s primary electricity utility.

Nature of the Order

  • Classified as a Commercial Order

  • Based on Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding – Phase VI

  • Designed for “On-Demand” energy usage, enhancing grid flexibility

Order Value & Duration

  • Approximate project value: ₹806.40 crore (excluding taxes)
