VA Tech Wabag Bags Large EPC Order from BPCL for Bina Refinery Expansion

VA Tech Wabag Limited (WABAG), a global leader in water technology solutions, has secured a large domestic order from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for the Bina Petrochemical and Refinery Expansion Project in Madhya Pradesh.

The project is aimed at strengthening BPCL’s water management infrastructure by deploying advanced and sustainable water treatment technologies at its Bina facility.

Scope of Work

The contract has been awarded on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis and involves the complete execution of a Water Block Package. WABAG will be responsible for the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of multiple critical water treatment units.

Key components of the project include:

  • A Raw Water Treatment Plant (RWTP) to process incoming water

  • A Reverse Osmosis–based Demineralisation Plant (RODMP) to supply high-purity water for refinery operations

  • A Zero Liquid Discharge Plant (ZLDP) to ensure efficient recycling of water with no liquid waste released into the environment

Order Value and Execution Timeline

As per WABAG’s internal project classification, a “Large” order falls within the value range of ₹250 crore to ₹600 crore. The entire project is expected to be executed over a period of 22 months.
