Android 17 is Here: Everything Pixel Users Need to Know

The wait is over. On June 16, 2026, Google released Android 17. This update changes how we use our phones. It brings features for power users, mobile gamers, and anyone who wants a smoother phone experience.

If you are in India, the update has started rolling out to eligible Pixel phones (Pixel 6 and newer). Here’s what’s new in Android 17.

Main features

  • Multitasking with Bubbles: You can make many apps into small floating windows. Long-press an app icon to keep it on top of other apps. On big screens, these windows sit in a “Bubble Bar” at the bottom.

  • Screen Reactions: You can record your face with the selfie camera while also recording your screen. This is useful for tutorials, game reactions, and sharing opinions without needing extra editing tools.

  • Foldable Gaming Mode: For foldable phones, games can use a 50/50 split—game on the top half and a touch gamepad on the bottom.

  • Better security: You get more control over location sharing. A new “Mark as Lost” option in Find Hub lets you lock your phone with biometrics if it’s lost, even if someone guesses your PIN. Live Threat Detection runs in the background to block risky apps and scams.

Why it matters
