Hindustan Zinc Posts Record Q1 FY27 Results as Profit More Than Doubles
Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, delivered its best-ever quarterly performance in Q1 FY27 (April–June 2026), with revenue, EBITDA, and net profit all hitting record highs on the back of strong volumes, operational efficiency, and cost discipline.
Financial and Operational Snapshot
The company’s net profit more than doubled, surging 145% year-on-year to a record ₹5,469 crore, while revenue from operations rose 77% YoY to ₹13,747 crore. EBITDA nearly doubled too, up 109% YoY to ₹8,074 crore, pushing margins to an industry-leading ~59%.
On the operations side, mined metal production reached a Q1 high of 268 KT — marking the fifth consecutive year of record first-quarter output — while refined metal production edged up 4% YoY to 260 KT. Cost discipline also stood out: the cost of zinc production fell 16% YoY to $851 per tonne, keeping Hindustan Zinc among the cheapest producers worldwide.
The Board also approved a first interim dividend of ₹11 per share (550% of face value), amounting to a total payout of ₹4,648 crore.
Leadership and Strategic Updates
Amarendu Prakash, formerly Chairman & Managing Director of SAIL, has been named CEO and Whole-time Director, effective August 1, 2026. Amit Gupta stepped into the CFO role earlier, effective June 1, 2026.
Separately, the company secured a mining lease for the Guadalupe Rare Earth Elements (REE) and Yttrium block in Karnataka, broadening its critical minerals portfolio. For the quarter, Hindustan Zinc generated free cash flow (pre-growth capex) of ₹5,253 crore and contributed close to ₹6,450 crore to the national exchequer.
