ICICI Prudential AMC Unpacks Q1 FY27 Performance: Industry AUM Crosses ₹83 Lakh Cr Amidst Equity Flow Shifts

ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company Limited (ICICIAMC) has released the transcripts of its media interaction and earnings conference call for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, offering investors a detailed perspective on the company’s performance and the evolving landscape of India’s mutual fund industry.

The discussions were led by Managing Director & CEO Nimesh Shah, along with the company’s senior leadership team, who shared their views on industry growth, investor behaviour, and the overall market environment during the first quarter of FY27.

Mutual Fund Industry Continues to Expand

According to the management, the Indian mutual fund industry’s quarterly average Assets Under Management (AUM) reached ₹83.28 lakh crore during Q1 FY27. This represents a 15.4% year-on-year increase and a 2% sequential rise, reflecting sustained investor participation across asset classes.

The company also highlighted that the industry’s closing AUM grew 11.6% quarter-on-quarter, indicating a sharp rebound in market valuations and investor confidence following the relatively subdued conditions seen at the end of March 2026.

Equity Funds Remain a Key Growth Driver

Equity and equity-oriented schemes continued to dominate the industry, with total AUM reaching ₹45.2 lakh crore during the quarter.

Net inflows into equity mutual funds stood at ₹1.14 lakh crore. While the inflows remained robust, they were ₹10,064 crore lower than the previous quarter, suggesting some moderation in fresh investments even as long-term investor interest remained healthy.

Small-Cap Funds Lead Market Recovery

Management noted that improving market sentiment resulted in a broad-based recovery across equity markets, with smaller companies delivering the strongest returns.

During the quarter:

  • Small-cap funds generated approximately 24% returns.
  • Mid-cap funds delivered around 17.2% returns.
  • Large-cap funds posted a comparatively modest 8.9% gain.

The performance reflects investors’ continued preference for higher-growth segments despite the inherent volatility associated with small- and mid-cap stocks.

Insights for Investors

The publication of the earnings call transcripts provides analysts and investors with valuable insights into ICICI Prudential AMC’s outlook and the broader trends shaping India’s asset management industry. The continued expansion in industry AUM, combined with strong market recovery and healthy equity participation, highlights the resilience of the mutual fund sector.

Although equity inflows moderated sequentially, management indicated that investor confidence remains intact, supported by improving market conditions and sustained long-term participation. The commentary from the earnings call is expected to help market participants better assess the company’s strategy and the opportunities emerging in India’s growing investment ecosystem.
