Indian Energy Exchange Reports Strong Q1 FY27 Performance with Double-Digit Profit Growth
July 23, 2026: Indian Energy Exchange Limited (IEX) has announced its unaudited financial results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), reporting healthy growth in revenue, profitability, and electricity trading volumes. The strong performance was driven by record electricity demand across India during the summer season and higher trading activity on the exchange.
The company also highlighted the continued growth of its subsidiaries, including Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) and the International Carbon Exchange (ICX).
Strong Financial Performance
IEX delivered double-digit growth across key financial parameters during the quarter.
Q1 FY27 Financial Highlights
- Consolidated Revenue: ₹202.8 crore, up 10.1% year-on-year from ₹184.2 crore.
- Consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT): ₹134.8 crore, registering 11.7% YoY growth.

- Electricity Trading Volume: 37.5 Billion Units (BU), up 15.9% year-on-year.
The growth reflects rising participation on the exchange as electricity consumption across the country continued to increase.
Record Power Demand Drives Trading Activity
India witnessed one of its hottest summers, with severe heatwaves pushing electricity demand to record levels.
Key Industry Highlights
- Peak Power Demand: Reached an all-time high of 270.8 GW during May 2026.
- Total Energy Consumption: Increased 8.8% year-on-year to 485.4 Billion Units.
Adequate coal availability at mine-head power plants helped ensure uninterrupted electricity supply despite the sharp increase in demand.
Higher Power Prices on the Exchange
Strong demand also resulted in higher electricity prices across IEX’s trading platforms.
- Day-Ahead Market (DAM): Average price of ₹5.10 per unit, up 15.7% YoY.
- Real-Time Market (RTM): Average price of ₹4.50 per unit, an increase of 13.8% YoY.
