Mahindra August 2026 Sales: SUV Sales Jump 50% as Auto, Tractor and CV Volumes Rise
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) delivered strong volume growth across its key automotive and farm equipment businesses in August 2026, with SUVs, commercial vehicles, trucks and buses, and tractors all reporting year-on-year growth.
The company’s overall auto sales reached 107,648 vehicles in August 2026, representing 42% year-on-year growth, including exports. The performance was led by continued momentum in the SUV segment, while commercial vehicles and the farm equipment business also recorded positive growth.
The August numbers come ahead of the festive season, which could provide another boost to automotive and rural demand.
Mahindra SUV Sales Jump 50%
Mahindra’s Utility Vehicle business was the biggest highlight of the August sales update.
The company sold 59,257 SUVs in the domestic market, up 50% year-on-year from 39,399 units in August 2025.
Including exports, overall Utility Vehicle sales stood at 61,167 units.
For the first five months of FY27, domestic Utility Vehicle sales reached 294,050 units, compared with 241,337 units in the corresponding period last year, representing 22% growth.
Mahindra said the updated Scorpio-N and BE 6 SPORTEQ received a strong response from customers.
The company expects to build on this momentum during the upcoming festive season.
Commercial Vehicle Sales Continue to Grow
Mahindra’s domestic commercial vehicle business also recorded healthy growth.
Sales of Light Commercial Vehicles below 2 tonnes increased 37% year-on-year to 3,999 units in August 2026, compared with 2,925 units a year earlier.
The 2-tonne to 3.5-tonne LCV category recorded 23,416 units, up 20% from 19,502 units in August 2025.
Three-wheeler sales, including electric three-wheelers, reached 14,922 units, representing 42% year-on-year growth.
The cumulative performance has been even stronger in three-wheelers, with sales rising 62% during the April-August period.
Exports Rise 71%
Mahindra’s vehicle exports also showed significant improvement.
Total exports in August 2026 stood at 6,054 vehicles, compared with 3,548 units in August 2025.
That represents a 71% year-on-year increase.
For the April-August period, exports reached 26,012 units, up 63% from 15,983 units during the same period last year.
The strong export growth provides another positive element in Mahindra’s overall automotive performance.
Mahindra Tractor Sales Rise 5%
Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business also reported growth in August.
Domestic tractor sales increased 5% year-on-year to 27,595 units, compared with 26,201 units in August 2025.
Total tractor sales, including exports, stood at 29,507 units, compared with 28,117 units a year earlier.
Exports during the month stood at 1,912 tractors.
Tractor Sales: August vs FY27 Cumulative
The cumulative numbers show stronger momentum than the August monthly growth rate.
Domestic tractor sales during the April-August period reached 212,664 units, compared with 182,390 units in the corresponding period last year, representing 17% growth.
Total tractor sales during the period reached 221,968 units, up 16% year-on-year.
Mahindra attributed the rural outlook partly to improving rainfall and near-normal Kharif sowing.
The company also expects government schemes and the upcoming festive season to support rural sentiment.
Trucks and Buses Sales Jump 47%
Mahindra’s Trucks and Buses business also recorded strong growth.
Overall sales, including exports, stood at 2,495 vehicles in August 2026, compared with 1,701 vehicles in August 2025.
This represents 47% year-on-year growth.
Cargo vehicle sales increased 55% to 1,532 units, while passenger vehicle sales rose 35% to 963 units.
For the April-August period, the combined Trucks and Buses business sold 14,893 vehicles, up 17% year-on-year.
Mahindra Truck & Bus Division
The Mahindra Truck & Bus Division itself reported total sales of 1,320 vehicles, up 54% year-on-year.
Cargo vehicle sales increased 56%, while passenger vehicle sales grew 47%.
The cumulative performance was also strong, with total MTBD sales increasing 22% during the April-August period.
SML Mahindra
SML Mahindra recorded total sales of 1,175 vehicles in August, up 40% year-on-year.
Passenger vehicle sales increased 31%, while cargo vehicle sales rose 53%.
For the April-August period, SML Mahindra’s total sales increased 14%.
New Mahindra BLAZO iTRK Launched
During August, Mahindra Truck & Bus Division launched the all-new Mahindra BLAZO iTRK, expanding its heavy commercial vehicle portfolio.
The company says the truck is designed around the “Profit Ka Rocket” proposition, with features including claimed fuel-efficiency improvement of up to 10% and a 48-hour Uptime Guarantee, backed by an assurance of ₹10,000 per day.
Mahindra said the truck and bus segment continues to benefit from infrastructure spending, freight demand and replacement demand.
However, the company also highlighted challenges from rising input and fuel costs.
What Is Driving Mahindra’s Sales Growth?
Several factors are supporting Mahindra’s current volume performance.
Strong SUV Demand
SUVs remain the company’s biggest growth engine within its automotive portfolio. A 50% increase in domestic SUV sales indicates continued customer demand for Mahindra’s utility vehicle lineup.
Festive Season Opportunity
The August performance comes before India’s important festive selling period.
Mahindra expects the upcoming festive season to support demand across its automotive businesses.
Improving Rural Sentiment
For the tractor business, rainfall and Kharif sowing trends are important demand indicators.
Mahindra said improving rainfall has supported near-normal Kharif sowing, while government schemes and the festive season could further support rural sentiment.
Infrastructure and Freight Demand
The Trucks and Buses business is benefiting from infrastructure spending, freight demand and replacement demand, according to the company.
This could provide support for the heavy commercial vehicle business if infrastructure and transportation activity remain strong.
Investor Takeaway
Mahindra’s August 2026 sales numbers present a broadly positive picture across its major operating segments.
The most notable performance came from the SUV business, which delivered 50% domestic growth. Exports also expanded strongly, while tractors, commercial vehicles and trucks and buses all recorded year-on-year increases.
The cumulative figures are particularly encouraging in several categories, including domestic SUVs, tractors, three-wheelers and exports.
However, monthly sales data should be viewed alongside margins, commodity costs, financing conditions, inventory levels and the company’s upcoming financial results. Strong volumes do not automatically translate into proportional profit growth.
For investors, the key areas to watch going forward will be SUV demand, festive-season sales, rural recovery, tractor volumes, commercial vehicle demand and export momentum.
If these trends remain strong, Mahindra could enter the second half of FY27 with a favourable operating backdrop.
Bottom Line
Mahindra’s August 2026 sales update was strong across multiple businesses.
SUV sales were the standout, rising 50% in the domestic market, while total auto sales increased 42%. Tractor sales grew 5%, Trucks and Buses sales jumped 47%, and vehicle exports increased 71%.
With the festive season approaching, the next few months will be important for determining whether Mahindra can sustain this strong volume momentum through the remainder of FY27.
