Niva Bupa Health Insurance Delivers Robust Q1 FY2027 Performance

Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company Limited has released its investor presentation for the first quarter of FY2027 (Q1 FY27), showcasing significant growth across key operational and financial metrics. The health insurer benefited from strong momentum in the broader Indian health insurance sector, which grew 22.4% during the quarter.

Key Financial Highlights for Q1 FY2027

  • Profit After Tax (PAT): Nearly doubled to ₹137.8 crore in Q1 FY27, up from ₹71.4 crore recorded in Q1 FY26 under IND AS standards.
  • Gross Written Premium (GWP): Rose 31.7% year-on-year (on a 1/n basis) to reach ₹2,150 crore.
  • Combined Insurance Service Ratio (CSR): Improved to 100.2% compared to 103.2% in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
  • Retail Health Market Share: Expanded to 11.1%, gaining ground from 10.0% in Q1 FY26.

Transition to IND AS and Strategic Growth

In compliance with guidelines issued by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), Nova BPA Health Insurance Company Limited transitioned to Indian Accounting Standards (IND AS) starting April 1, 2026. The adoption of IND AS provides enhanced transparency and aligns the company’s reporting with global financial accounting frameworks.

The insurer’s performance reflects accelerating demand in the standalone health insurance market. With an improved underwriting efficiency demonstrated by the drop in CSR and expanding retail market share, Nova BPA continues to strengthen its competitive position in the Indian general insurance landscape.
