Reliance Industries Posts Robust Rs 54,000 Cr+ EBITDA in Q1 FY27 Amidst Global Volatility
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has started the financial year 2026-27 on a solid footing, delivering strong growth in revenue, operating profit, and net earnings despite a challenging global business environment marked by volatile energy prices, geopolitical tensions, and supply chain disruptions.
The company’s performance was discussed during its analyst and institutional investor meeting held on July 17, 2026, where management highlighted the resilience of its diversified business model. Strong contributions from its energy, telecom, and retail businesses helped Reliance maintain growth momentum even as global macroeconomic uncertainties persisted.
Revenue Rises 25% in Q1 FY27
Reliance Industries reported a 25% year-on-year increase in revenue, supported by higher crude oil prices and healthy growth across its consumer-focused businesses.
Both Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail recorded approximately 12% revenue growth, demonstrating the continued strength of the company’s digital services and retail operations. Their consistent expansion has further diversified Reliance’s earnings base beyond its traditional energy business.

Meanwhile, net profit reached nearly ₹23,200 crore, rising 6% compared to the same quarter last year, reflecting strong operational execution despite external headwinds.

- Net Profit: Nearly ₹23,200 crore (up 6%)

Energy Business Benefits from Operational Efficiency
Reliance’s Oil-to-Chemicals (O2C) business delivered an impressive quarter, supported by stronger distillate margins and improved chemical spreads.
Management highlighted that chemical margins reached their highest levels in three to four years. The company’s integrated refining and petrochemicals operations also benefited from declining ethane prices, providing a cost advantage through its ethane-cracking facilities while crude oil prices remained elevated.
To manage geopolitical disruptions affecting global crude supplies, Reliance diversified its sourcing strategy by increasing imports from regions including Latin America, the United States, Canada, and Africa, ensuring uninterrupted operations.
Consumer Businesses Continue to Drive Growth
Reliance’s transformation into a diversified consumer-focused conglomerate continued during the quarter.
Jio Platforms delivered healthy growth driven by increasing digital adoption, while Reliance Retail continued expanding its presence across both physical stores and digital commerce.
Together, the consumer businesses now contribute nearly half of Reliance Industries’ overall earnings mix, highlighting the company’s successful diversification strategy.
Strong Cash Flows Support Future Expansion
During the investor interaction, management emphasized that healthy operating cash flows continue to fund the company’s large capital expenditure plans without compromising financial strength.
Reliance remains focused on investing across energy, digital services, retail, and emerging new energy businesses, positioning itself for long-term sustainable growth.
