Goodluck India Subsidiary Receives DGQA Certification for 155mm Artillery Shells, Strengthening Defence Manufacturing Capabilities

Goodluck India Limited has announced a significant milestone for its defence business, with its subsidiary Goodluck Defence and Aerospace Limited (GOAL) receiving a Quality Assurance Certificate from the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India.

The certification authorizes GOAL to supply 155mm M107 Ready-to-Fill (RTF) Artillery Shells (empty shells) assembled with a recovery plug, marking a major step forward in the company’s expansion into India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem.

Key Highlights

  • DGQA Certification: Quality Assurance Certificate granted for 155mm M107 Ready-to-Fill (RTF) Artillery Shells (empty shells) with recovery plug.
  • Successful Testing: The product successfully cleared stringent Visual Examination, Gauging, Dimensional Inspection, and Dynamic Tests conducted by the competent authority.
  • Government Procurement Eligibility: The certification qualifies GOAL as an approved supplier, enabling participation in future defence procurement programs and tenders issued by the Government of India.
  • Production Capacity: GOAL currently has an annual manufacturing capacity of 150,000 artillery shells, which is being expanded to 400,000 shells per annum to meet growing demand.

Strategic Significance

The DGQA approval is expected to significantly strengthen Goodluck India’s presence in the domestic defence manufacturing sector. With the certification in place, GOAL is now eligible to participate in upcoming defence procurement opportunities, supporting the Government of India’s efforts to increase indigenous production under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

The capacity expansion also positions the company to cater to rising demand for defence equipment from both domestic and international markets.

Management Commentary

Commenting on the achievement, Mahesh Chandra Garg said the DGQA certification reflects the company’s strong precision engineering capabilities and reinforces its commitment to supporting India’s vision of self-reliance in defence manufacturing. He added that the milestone marks an important step in establishing Goodluck India as a trusted supplier of high-quality defence products.
