Nestlé India Bets Big on Premiumization, AI, and Capacity Expansion to Drive Long-Term Growth (Investor Presentation)
Nestlé India has unveiled an ambitious long-term growth strategy during its Analyst and Institutional Investor Meet, highlighting premiumization, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), manufacturing expansion, and brand investments as the key pillars for future growth. The company believes India’s evolving consumer landscape presents a massive opportunity despite short-term macroeconomic challenges.
India’s Rising Consumer Story Remains the Biggest Growth Opportunity
Nestlé India expects the country’s expanding middle class and rising disposable incomes to fuel sustained demand across food and beverage categories over the coming decade.
According to the company’s presentation, India’s household base is projected to grow from 330 million households in 2025 to approximately 407 million by 2034. The share of affluent and elite households is also expected to increase significantly, creating a favorable environment for premium products.
The company believes this demographic shift will continue supporting both volume growth and premium product adoption.
Premiumization Becoming a Major Growth Engine
Premium products have become one of Nestlé India’s fastest-growing businesses.
The company revealed that:
- Premium portfolio contribution has increased from 11% in 2021 to 14% in FY25-26
- Premium portfolio has grown at nearly 17% CAGR since 2021
- Premium products are growing roughly 500 basis points faster than the overall business.
Nestlé plans to continue introducing premium and super-premium offerings across coffee, chocolates, nutrition, and other food categories.
E-commerce Contribution Has Doubled Since 2021
Digital commerce continues to play an increasingly important role in Nestlé India’s strategy.
The company said e-commerce’s contribution has doubled since 2021, helping:
- Reach premium consumers
- Launch new products faster
- Leverage key shopping events
- Build stronger digital partnerships.
Strong Brands Continue to Offer Massive Growth Potential
Nestlé highlighted significant headroom across its flagship brands.
MAGGI
Despite dominating India’s instant noodles category, the company believes consumption can still grow through increased purchase frequency.
MAGGI recently completed 50 years in India, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s most trusted food brands.
NESCAFÉ
Nestlé reported that NESCAFÉ has recorded 20 consecutive quarters of double-digit growth, while coffee penetration in India remains significantly lower than tea, leaving substantial room for expansion.
KITKAT
India has now become the largest market globally for KITKAT, underlining the success of Nestlé’s chocolate business and premium confectionery strategy.
AI and Digital Transformation Driving Productivity
Technology is becoming central to Nestlé India’s operations.
The company showcased several AI-powered initiatives, including:

Nestlé India continues investing aggressively to support future demand.
Key highlights include:
- More than ₹64 billion invested since 2020

Alongside growth investments, Nestlé India continues improving operational efficiency.
Its strategy focuses on:
- Supply chain optimization
- Manufacturing efficiencies

This balanced approach aims to support profitable growth while funding future investments.
Short-Term Challenges Remain
Despite its optimistic outlook, Nestlé acknowledged several near-term risks:
- Moderating consumer demand
- Food inflation
- Geopolitical uncertainties
- Rising freight and logistics costs
- Commodity price volatility
- Supply chain disruptions.
However, the company believes its diversified portfolio, strong brands, manufacturing investments, and digital capabilities position it well to navigate these challenges.
