Small-Cap Funds Lead the Equity Inflows

One of the biggest highlights of the July AMFI data was the strong flow into small-cap funds.

Small-cap mutual funds received a net ₹7,767.50 crore during July, making them the largest recipient among the major diversified equity categories in the report. Their AUM stood at ₹4,41,099.91 crore at the end of July.

Mid-cap funds also attracted substantial investor money, recording a ₹6,192.31 crore net inflow. Their AUM reached ₹5,23,091.45 crore.

The strong flows into mid- and small-cap funds indicate that investors continued to allocate substantial money toward these equity categories during the month.

Flexi Cap Funds Attract ₹4,709 Crore

Flexi-cap funds were another major contributor to July’s equity inflows.

The category received ₹11,588.79 crore in mobilization against redemptions of ₹6,879.71 crore, resulting in a net inflow of ₹4,709.08 crore.

Flexi-cap fund AUM stood at ₹6,00,155.01 crore at the end of July 2026.

Large-Cap Funds See Outflow

Unlike mid- and small-cap categories, large-cap funds recorded a net outflow during July.

Large-cap funds saw ₹4,746.09 crore of funds mobilized, while redemptions were higher at ₹6,067.78 crore, resulting in a net outflow of ₹1,321.69 crore.

The category’s AUM stood at ₹4,16,422.97 crore at the end of July.

This divergence between large-cap and mid-/small-cap flows is one of the key trends investors may want to monitor in the coming months.

The category mobilized ₹10,881.96 crore while redemptions stood at ₹9,553.69 crore. Its AUM increased to ₹5,61,858.38 crore as of July 31, 2026.

What the July AMFI Data Means for Investors

The July data shows that Indian mutual funds continue to represent a significant pool of domestic investment capital.

The strongest flows were seen in small-cap, mid-cap, flexi-cap and large-and-mid-cap funds, while large-cap funds recorded a net outflow. This indicates that the flow of investor money was not uniform across the equity market.

However, the AMFI data alone does not establish why investors moved money between these categories. Investors should therefore avoid interpreting monthly flows as a standalone buy or sell signal.

The July 2026 AMFI mutual fund data shows continued strong participation in India’s mutual fund industry, with equity schemes attracting nearly ₹24,700 crore of net inflows. The distribution of flows is particularly noteworthy, with mid-cap and small-cap funds attracting substantial money while large-cap funds experienced an outflow.

With total mutual fund AUM at approximately ₹85.76 lakh crore, domestic mutual funds remain an important source of capital for India’s financial markets.
