Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles to Increase Car and SUV Prices by Up to ₹25,000 From September 1, 2026

Mumbai, August 21, 2026: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited (formerly Tata Motors Limited) has announced a price increase across its passenger vehicle portfolio, covering both internal combustion engine (ICE) cars and electric vehicles (EVs). The price revision will come into effect from September 1, 2026, with the increase going up to ₹25,000, depending on the model and variant.

Price Hike Effective September 1

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (TMPV) said the price increase will apply across its portfolio of cars and SUVs. The company has clarified that the exact quantum of the increase will vary across individual models and variants, while efforts will be made to maintain the overall value proposition of its products.

Rising Input Costs Behind the Move

According to the company, the price revision is being implemented to partially offset the impact of rising input costs and sustained inflationary pressures. Tata Motors said it has continued to absorb a significant portion of the cost increases, but a part of the impact is now being passed on to customers through the price adjustment.

Impact on ICE and Electric Vehicles

The latest price revision will cover both ICE-powered vehicles and electric vehicles, making it a broad-based adjustment across Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle range. The company offers a diverse portfolio of cars and SUVs across multiple powertrain technologies, including petrol, diesel and electric models.

What It Means for Customers

Customers planning to purchase a Tata Motors passenger vehicle from September 1, 2026, may have to pay up to ₹25,000 more, depending on the model and variant selected. The company has not indicated that the maximum increase will apply uniformly across its entire portfolio.

Company Overview

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited is part of the Tata Group and is one of India’s leading automobile manufacturers. The company offers a wide range of cars and SUVs with a focus on design, safety, performance and technology. Its portfolio includes multiple powertrain options, connected technologies and electric vehicles.

Tata Motors has also been a major participant in India’s electric vehicle market and continues to develop zero-emission and connected mobility solutions, supported by its engineering, research and development capabilities.

The company was formerly known as Tata Motors Limited. Following a Composite Scheme of Arrangement sanctioned by the National Company Law Tribunal, Mumbai Bench, its name was changed to Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited with effect from October 13, 2025.

Stock Market Impact

The price hike is a marginally positive development from a revenue and cost-recovery perspective, as it could help Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles partially offset higher input costs and inflationary pressures. However, the overall impact on profitability will depend on the extent of the price increase, customer demand, competitive pricing, and the company’s ability to pass on rising costs without affecting sales volumes.
