Stocks to Watch Tomorrow, August 20, 2026: HAL, Ceigall India,Magellanic Cloud

Indian equities enter Thursday, August 20, 2026, under pressure after the Nifty 50 extended its losing streak to seven sessions. On August 19, Nifty closed at 24,078.30, down 0.32%, while Sensex fell 0.42%. Rising crude oil prices, elevated global bond yields and geopolitical uncertainty remain key concerns for the market.

1. Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) – ₹62,000 Crore Defence Opportunity

HAL is one of the biggest stocks in focus after the government cleared a proposal for the acquisition of 97 LCA Mark-1A Tejas fighter aircraft, reportedly worth around ₹62,000 crore. The development strengthens the long-term order visibility for India’s leading defence aerospace company.

2. Ceigall India – ₹274 Crore EPC Order

Ceigall India is another stock to watch after a joint venture in which the company holds a 70% stake received an EPC order worth approximately ₹274 crore from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for a highway project in Arunachal Pradesh. The project has a 48-month construction period followed by five years of maintenance, providing additional order-book visibility.

3. Magellanic Cloud – ₹111 Crore+ Orders

Magellanic Cloud could remain active after the company reported a series of recent order wins worth more than ₹111.04 crore across railway surveillance, BFSI technology and digital infrastructure. The new orders add to the company’s existing order pipeline and could attract trading interest.

4.Kahan Packaging – 3:1 Bonus Record Date

Kahan Packaging is also in focus as August 20, 2026 is the record date for its 3:1 bonus issue. Investors should note that a bonus issue changes the number of shares held and the adjusted market price; it does not by itself create economic value for shareholders.

Nifty 50: 24,000 Remains the Key Level

The biggest technical trigger for August 20 is the 24,000 level on Nifty. Nifty closed at 24,078.30 on Wednesday after testing an intraday low around 24,025. Analysts are watching 23,950-24,025 as an important support zone, while 24,175 is seen as the first resistance. A sustained move above 24,175 could improve the short-term setup, whereas a decisive break below 24,000 could increase selling pressure.

Bank Nifty: Watch 57,000

Bank Nifty remained relatively stable compared with Nifty, but the index is still facing pressure. The 57,000-57,100 zone is an important near-term support area, while traders will watch the 57,500-57,700 region for signs of recovery. Private banks, particularly Kotak Mahindra Bank, could be watched for relative strength.

Key Triggers for Day

  • Nifty 24,000: Crucial support.
  • Nifty 24,175: First important resistance.
  • Weekly expiry: Thursday expiry could increase intraday volatility.
  • Crude oil: Elevated crude remains a major risk for Indian equities.
  • IT stocks: Watch Infosys and TCS for continuation of Wednesday’s recovery.
  • Defence: HAL remains a major order-driven stock to watch.
  • Infrastructure: Ceigall India’s ₹274 crore order adds to the order-book theme.
  • IPO activity: Strong primary-market activity could continue to absorb liquidity from secondary markets.
