Balaji Amines Starts Commercial Production of Expanded Acetonitrile Plant

Balaji Amines Starts Commercial Production of Expanded Acetonitrile Plant

Balaji Amines Limited has commenced commercial production at its expanded Acetonitrile (ACN) manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, marking another step in the company’s expansion and modernisation programme.

The company informed the stock exchanges on September 24, 2026, that commercial production at the Acetonitrile plant began with effect from the same day.

Acetonitrile Capacity Increased to 1,440 TPM

The expanded plant is located at Unit-III, Chincholi MIDC, Solapur, Maharashtra.

Following the expansion, Balaji Amines’ installed Acetonitrile capacity has been increased to 1,440 tonnes per month (TPM).

The company said the plant has been set up using advanced technology as part of its expansion and modernisation programme.

Acetonitrile is classified by the company as a speciality chemical.

Domestic and International Markets

Balaji Amines said the Acetonitrile product will cater to both domestic and international markets.

However, the September 24 filing does not provide details regarding the expected revenue contribution from the expanded capacity, utilisation levels, customer contracts or the size of the investment made in the project.

Why the Development Matters

The commissioning of commercial production is an important milestone because the expanded capacity moves from the project/expansion stage into actual production.

For investors tracking Balaji Amines, the key factors to monitor from here will include:

  • Ramp-up of the additional ACN capacity
  • Capacity utilisation
  • Acetonitrile realisations and margins
  • Domestic and export demand
  • Contribution of the expanded capacity to revenue and profitability
  • Further expansion plans and capital expenditure

The company has not disclosed an order book or specific customer commitments along with this announcement.

Balaji Amines: Key Takeaway

Balaji Amines has successfully commissioned its expanded Acetonitrile plant with installed capacity of 1,440 TPM from September 24, 2026.

The immediate investor focus is likely to shift from commissioning to production ramp-up, utilisation, pricing and profitability, which will determine the financial impact of the new capacity.
