IHCL Accelerates Expansion with 20 New Signings and 11 Hotel Openings in Q1 FY2027

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has made an impressive start to FY2027 by signing 20 new hotels and opening 11 properties during the first quarter. The strong expansion reflects the company’s continued focus on growing its presence across India and overseas while moving closer to its long-term Accelerate 2030 vision.

With these additions, IHCL’s portfolio has grown to 645 hotels, representing more than 66,000 rooms across its operating and pipeline properties.

Strong Momentum Continues in Q1 FY2027

The first quarter witnessed robust growth across multiple brands and geographies. IHCL continued to expand into both established hospitality markets and emerging travel destinations, strengthening its position as one of the country’s leading hotel operators.

The company signed 20 new hotels during the quarter, taking its development pipeline to 263 hotels. Several of these projects mark IHCL’s entry into new destinations such as Bharatpur, Wayanad, and Sindhudurg, further expanding its footprint across India.

At the same time, 11 hotels became operational, increasing IHCL’s portfolio of operating hotels to more than 380 properties across its various brands.

Focus on High-Growth Brands

A major part of IHCL’s expansion strategy continues to revolve around its fast-growing brands. Out of the 20 hotel signings during the quarter, 17 belonged to brands including Gateway, Ginger, and Tree of Life.

The company is strengthening its presence in key travel markets such as Mumbai, Goa, and Kolkata, while also expanding into high-potential leisure and business destinations across the country.

This balanced strategy allows IHCL to cater to a wide range of travelers, from luxury guests to value-conscious business and leisure customers.

Taj Brand Reaches a Major Milestone

IHCL’s flagship luxury brand, Taj, achieved an important milestone during the quarter by expanding its portfolio to 150 hotels.

The brand added three strategic signings, including luxury leisure destinations in Dharamshala and Meghalaya, reinforcing Taj’s leadership in India’s premium hospitality segment.

International Expansion Gains Pace

IHCL also continued to strengthen its global presence with two notable hotel openings.

The company inaugurated Taj Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt, Germany, and Taj Bush Lodge in Greater Kruger, South Africa. These additions further enhance IHCL’s international portfolio and reflect its growing global ambitions.

Moving Closer to the Accelerate 2030 Vision

The steady pace of hotel signings and openings demonstrates IHCL’s commitment to achieving its Accelerate 2030 strategy. By expanding across luxury, upscale, and lean-luxe segments, the company is building a well-diversified hospitality portfolio that caters to evolving travel trends.

Its multi-brand approach—including Taj, SeleQtions, Vivanta, Gateway, Ginger, and Tree of Life—enables the company to capture opportunities across different customer segments and geographic markets.
