Maruti Suzuki Unveils INR 35,000 Crore Kharkhoda Smart Factory: A Leap Towards 1 Million Units and 21,000 Jobs

In a powerful signal for India’s manufacturing future and robust international ties, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) officially inaugurated its vehicle manufacturing facility at IMT Kharkhoda, Haryana, on July 2, 2026. The event, graced by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Japan’s Prime Minister H.E. Ms. Sanae Takaichi, marks a significant milestone for the automotive leader and India’s economy.

The 800-acre plant represents a strategic leap. Starting at 0.5 million units, Kharkhoda will swiftly expand to 1 million units annually. This growth, backed by a projected total investment of INR 35,000 crore, is critical for MSIL’s 4 million-unit annual production ambition, reinforcing its market leadership and embodying the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Kharkhoda Key Figures:

  • Total Investment: INR 35,000 crore
  • Peak Manufacturing Capacity: 1 million units per annum
  • Projected Job Creation: Over 21,000 positions

Beyond its scale, Kharkhoda champions the ‘Suzuki Smart Factory’ concept and Industry 5.0. It integrates advanced digital technologies, human-aware collaborative robots, and a strong commitment to sustainability. The facility will source 100% of its electricity from renewables (solar, biogas, battery storage) and operates as a zero liquid discharge plant, demonstrating robust environmental stewardship.

As Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, underscored, this facility highlights India’s growing importance within the Suzuki Group. It demonstrates ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ in action, driving exports and boosting global confidence in India’s manufacturing. This move establishes Maruti Suzuki as a forward-thinking leader, propelling economic growth, innovation, and sustainable practices.
