Glenmark Pharma Receives US FDA Approval for Pediatric Use of RYALTRIS® Nasal Spray

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited has announced that its innovation-focused subsidiary, Glenmark Specialty S.A., has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval to expand the indication of RYALTRIS® Nasal Spray for the treatment of Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis (SAR) in pediatric patients aged 6 to under 12 years.

The latest approval significantly broadens the addressable patient population for RYALTRIS® in the United States and strengthens Glenmark’s specialty respiratory portfolio.

US FDA Expands Pediatric Indication

Following the regulatory approval, RYALTRIS® (olopatadine hydrochloride and mometasone furoate nasal spray) can now be prescribed for children aged 6 to less than 12 years suffering from seasonal allergic rhinitis.

Previously, the treatment was approved for adults and children aged 12 years and above. The expanded label enables Glenmark to address a much larger pediatric patient segment in one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical markets.

Approval Backed by Phase 3 Clinical Trial

The FDA approval is supported by a Phase 3 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial involving 446 pediatric patients.

The study demonstrated that RYALTRIS® provides effective symptom relief while maintaining a favorable safety profile, supporting its use in younger children with seasonal allergies.

Strengthens Glenmark’s US Commercial Strategy

The approval comes shortly after Glenmark assumed direct commercialization of RYALTRIS® in the United States from April 1, 2026.

Managing commercialization directly allows the company to:

  • Strengthen brand positioning.
  • Improve market access.
  • Enhance engagement with healthcare professionals.
  • Expand patient reach.
  • Capture greater long-term value from the product.

The expanded pediatric indication is expected to further support sales growth in the U.S. market.

Large Pediatric Allergy Market Opportunity

Seasonal allergic rhinitis remains one of the most common chronic conditions among children in the United States.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 25% of children aged 6–11 years had a diagnosed seasonal allergy in 2024.

The condition can adversely affect:

  • Sleep quality
  • School performance
  • Daily activities
  • Emotional well-being
  • Overall quality of life

The expanded approval allows Glenmark to address this significant unmet medical need with an FDA-approved treatment option.

Global Presence of RYALTRIS®

RYALTRIS® has established a strong international footprint and is currently approved in 56 countries, including:

  • United States
  • European Union
  • United Kingdom
  • Australia
  • China

The company also launched the product in 11 additional international markets during FY26, reflecting its growing global acceptance.
