Vikran Engineering Secures ₹153.76 Crore POWERGRID Order for 400 kV Substation Project

Vikran Engineering Secures ₹153.76 Crore POWERGRID Order for 400 kV Substation Project

Vikran Engineering Limited (NSE: VIKRAN, BSE: 544496) has secured a ₹153.76 crore order from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) for a 400 kV air-insulated substation (AIS) extension package at the Tumkur-II Pooling Substation in Karnataka.

The order, awarded through domestic competitive bidding, strengthens Vikran Engineering’s presence in high-voltage power transmission infrastructure and adds to its EPC order book.

₹153.76 Crore POWERGRID Order

The project involves extension of the 400/220 kV Tumkur-II AIS Pooling Substation, along with civil works for a ±300 MVAR STATCOM at the facility.

The transmission-system strengthening project is associated with the integration of an additional 2.7 GW of renewable energy capacity through the tariff-based competitive bidding route.

Vikran Engineering’s scope covers the end-to-end execution of the package, including engineering, equipment and material supply, transportation, erection, testing and commissioning.

The company said the overall execution period is 21 months from the date of issuance of the Notification of Award.

Renewable Energy Transmission Opportunity

The order is significant because it is linked to strengthening the transmission network required to integrate additional renewable energy into the power grid.

For Vikran Engineering, the contract also adds another high-voltage substation project from POWERGRID, expanding its exposure to large-scale transmission infrastructure.

The company has been developing its EPC business across power transmission and distribution, water infrastructure and railway electrification, with emerging capabilities in solar EPC and smart metering.

What It Means for Vikran Engineering Investors

The ₹153.76 crore contract provides a visible addition to Vikran Engineering’s project pipeline, while the 21-month execution schedule provides a potential revenue opportunity over the project period.

Investors may track the company’s order-book growth, execution progress, working-capital requirements and margins as the project progresses. The announcement does not disclose the expected profit margin or the specific revenue-recognition schedule for this contract.

Conclusion

Vikran Engineering’s ₹153.76 crore POWERGRID order strengthens its position in high-voltage transmission EPC and adds a sizeable project to its order pipeline. The Tumkur-II project is also connected with the integration of 2.7 GW of additional renewable energy capacity, highlighting the broader demand for grid infrastructure as renewable generation expands.
