Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Launched: Price Starts at ₹11.45 Lakh with AI-Powered Technology and Battery-as-a-Service
Mahindra & Mahindra has introduced the new BE 6 SPORTEQ series, expanding its electric SUV portfolio with a stronger focus on sporty design, artificial intelligence, connected technology and software-defined vehicle capabilities.
The new BE 6 SPORTEQ starts at ₹11.45 lakh with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), while the battery is offered at ₹3.75 per km under the stated BaaS arrangement. Deliveries are scheduled to begin on August 26, 2026, on the occasion of Onam.
What Is the Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ?
The BE 6 SPORTEQ has been introduced as a distinct series built around the BE 6’s sporty character and technology-focused positioning.
Mahindra is offering the SPORTEQ series in eight variants — ONE, TWO, THREE, THREE+, FOUR, FE, FE FOUR and Launch Edition — along with 12 colour options, including four new colours: Rosso Impulso, Ruby Velvet, Graphite Storm and Firestorm Orange Satin.
From the TWO variant onwards, the SUV gets a three-screen coast-to-coast display. Customers looking for a more race-inspired cabin can opt for the Freedom Edition, which retains a two-screen cockpit and the signature halo design.
AI-Powered Technology and MAIA
One of the major highlights of the BE 6 SPORTEQ is Mahindra’s focus on artificial intelligence and software-defined vehicle technology.
The SUV is powered by MAIA — Mahindra’s Artificial Intelligence Architecture — which forms the foundation of its Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) approach.
The technology package includes six TEQ Suites:
- TEQ_Talk – AI-powered conversational features built with Google Gemini
- TEQ_Play – Entertainment features including karaoke, gaming, private audio, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos
- TEQ_Drive – Driving and performance features including Custom Drive Mode and Drift Mode
- TEQ_Me – Personalisation and automatic user-profile detection
- TEQ_Secure – Security and monitoring features
- TEQ_xting – Personalisation features such as personalised tailgate messaging
TEQ_Talk uses 17 specialised AI agents and supports more than 100 core functions and 48 apps, covering areas such as vehicle controls, navigation, music and news.
Software Updates for Existing BE 6 Owners
An important aspect of Mahindra’s software-defined vehicle strategy is that the company plans to bring the new technology features to existing customers.
Mahindra said that the new technology and software features introduced with the SPORTEQ series will be rolled out to existing BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S owners through OTA software updates, in phases starting from January 2027.
The exact features available will depend on the vehicle model and variant.
This approach could help Mahindra position its electric vehicles more like continuously evolving technology products rather than conventional vehicles whose features remain largely unchanged after purchase.
BE 6 SPORTEQ Launch Edition
The Launch Edition sits at the top of the SPORTEQ range.
It gets an exclusive Graphite Storm exterior along with a full Racing Tan leatherette interior, giving the SUV a more premium appearance.
Formula E Freedom Edition
Mahindra has also introduced the BE 6 SPORTEQ Formula E Freedom Edition, aimed at customers looking for a more performance-oriented version.
The edition draws inspiration from Mahindra Racing’s Formula E programme and features a sportier exterior, tricolour accents, Satin colour finishes and an exclusive Black & Firestorm orange interior.
The cabin gets a two-screen digital cockpit and the signature halo design.
The Freedom Edition also gets an Acceleration Boost, with a claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.44 seconds.
Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Price
The company has announced the following ex-showroom prices (in lakh):

The prices exclude the wall charger and its installation cost. Under the BaaS option, the battery is priced at ₹3.75 per km, based on the company’s stated calculation assuming 60 km of daily usage.
Why the BaaS Model Is Important
The starting price of ₹11.45 lakh makes the BaaS version particularly notable.
Instead of paying the full battery cost upfront, customers opting for BaaS pay for battery usage on a per-kilometre basis. According to Mahindra’s announcement, the battery cost under this arrangement is ₹3.75 per km.
This model could make the upfront purchase price of an electric SUV more accessible, although buyers will need to evaluate the overall ownership cost based on their driving distance and usage pattern.
Mahindra’s Software-Defined Vehicle Strategy
The BE 6 SPORTEQ is not being positioned only as a new electric SUV variant. Mahindra is using it to highlight its broader Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) strategy.
The company says the BE 6 can continue to evolve after delivery through software updates. The planned OTA rollout to existing BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S customers from January 2027 underlines this approach.
For Mahindra, this creates the possibility of adding features and improving the customer experience over the vehicle’s lifecycle without requiring a complete hardware upgrade.
Mahindra’s Electric SUV Push
The launch comes as Mahindra continues to strengthen its electric SUV portfolio.
The company said the BE 6 has generated significant interest since its launch in November 2024 and described it as one of its most talked-about electric SUVs.
The SPORTEQ series broadens the BE 6 proposition by combining multiple elements — electric mobility, AI, connected technology, entertainment, personalisation and performance.
What It Could Mean for Mahindra
From a business perspective, the BE 6 SPORTEQ gives Mahindra another opportunity to expand its presence in India’s growing electric passenger vehicle market.
The key areas to watch will be customer response, deliveries, adoption of the BaaS model, EV volumes and the company’s ability to monetise technology and software-led features.
The introduction of OTA upgrades for existing vehicles is also significant because it could help Mahindra build a longer-term relationship with EV customers rather than limiting innovation to new model launches.
Important Points for Investors to Consider
For investors tracking Mahindra & Mahindra, the BE 6 SPORTEQ launch is worth watching for several reasons:
- Starting price of ₹11.45 lakh with BaaS
- Battery usage cost stated at ₹3.75 per km
- Eight SPORTEQ variants
- 12 colour choices
- AI-powered MAIA architecture
- Google Gemini-powered TEQ_Talk
- Software-defined vehicle capabilities
- OTA updates planned for existing BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S owners from January 2027
- Formula E-inspired Freedom Edition
- Deliveries scheduled from August 26, 2026
- Potential impact of the new series on Mahindra’s electric SUV volumes and market positioning
Point to consider
The Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ represents more than a cosmetic update to the company’s electric SUV lineup. Mahindra is combining sporty styling with AI, connected technology, entertainment, personalisation and software updates.
With prices starting at ₹11.45 lakh under the BaaS model, the company is also attempting to make its electric SUV proposition more accessible while offering higher-end variants up to ₹26.95 lakh.
The real test will now be customer adoption and delivery volumes after the August 26 launch. For the stock market, investors may particularly watch whether the SPORTEQ range helps Mahindra sustain momentum in electric SUVs and strengthens its competitive position in India’s EV market.
