Shyam Metalics Commissions ₹150 Crore Beneficiation Plant to Boost Raw Material Efficiency and Profitability

Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited has announced the successful commissioning of its 1.5 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) Beneficiation Plant at Jabalpur, Odisha. Developed with a capital investment of ₹150 crore, the new facility is expected to strengthen the company’s raw material security, improve operational efficiency, and support long-term profitability through enhanced resource utilization.

New Beneficiation Plant Begins Commercial Operations

The newly commissioned beneficiation plant is now fully operational and is designed to convert lower-grade iron ore into high-quality feedstock for the company’s downstream steel manufacturing operations.

By processing low-grade minerals in-house, Shyam Metalics aims to maximize the value of available resources while reducing dependence on externally sourced raw materials. This integrated approach is expected to improve production efficiency and provide greater control over input quality.

₹150 Crore Investment to Enhance Cost Competitiveness

The company has invested ₹150 crore in developing the state-of-the-art beneficiation facility, which incorporates advanced mineral processing technology.

The project is expected to deliver several operational benefits, including:

  • Improved utilization of lower-grade mineral resources
  • Reduced procurement costs for raw materials
  • Higher operational efficiency across manufacturing units
  • Better operating margins through cost optimization
  • Enhanced supply chain reliability

The beneficiation plant also enables the company to extract greater value from existing mineral reserves, extending mine life while minimizing resource wastage.

Strengthening Operational Efficiency

According to the company, the facility is already contributing to operational improvements by increasing the quality of raw materials used in steel production and reducing overall manufacturing costs.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Brij Bhushan Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited, said the new beneficiation plant represents a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy. He noted that the facility is expected to improve raw material efficiency, generate cost savings, and strengthen the company’s profitability from the outset.

Focus on Sustainable Manufacturing

The beneficiation plant has been designed with modern, eco-efficient technology that minimizes water and energy consumption while reducing industrial waste generation. The investment aligns with Shyam Metalics’ long-term commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices and responsible resource management.

By maximizing the use of lower-grade minerals, the company also supports more efficient utilization of natural resources while reducing the environmental impact of mining operations.
