Stock Watch Today: Stocks to Watch on Friday, August 21, 2026
For Friday, August 21, 2026, the market setup looks cautiously positive at the open, but oil and global risk remain the biggest threats. GIFT Nifty was indicating a mildly positive start, while Nifty had recovered on Thursday after a seven-session losing streak.
Stocks likely to be in focus today
1. RailTel — HIGH FOCUS
RailTel has secured a ₹165 crore order, making it one of the clearest stock-specific triggers today. The order is therefore likely to attract attention in the railway/defence/infrastructure space.
2. Saatvik Green Energy — HIGH FOCUS
The company received a ₹190 crore solar module order, providing a fresh order-flow trigger for the renewable-energy theme.
3. Welspun Corp – ₹17,200 crore
Welspun Corp has secured a major order worth approximately ₹17,200 crore from a global energy player. The order involves supplying pipes manufactured at its USA facility, with execution planned across FY28 and FY29.
4. Walchandnagar Industries – ₹30.53 crore + GST
Walchandnagar Industries has received a ₹30.53 crore plus GST order from Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. The contract involves manufacturing HS200 motorcase segments for the Gaganyaan programme and has an execution period of four years.
5. Sanginita Chemicals – ₹85.22 crore
Sanginita Chemicals has received orders worth ₹85.22 crore from multiple solar developers. The contracts cover 10 solar EPC and O&M projects, with execution expected within around 150 days from land allotment.
6.B.L. Kashyap & Sons – ₹183.18 crore
B.L. Kashyap & Sons has secured a ₹183.18 crore contract from Realkraft Ventures LLP, part of the Century Group. The project involves civil and structural works for a residential building and is expected to be completed in around 18 months.
The BIGGEST market driver today
Crude oil is the No. 1 macro trigger. Brent crude has moved above $93, largely because of continuing West Asia tensions. This is particularly negative for India because higher crude increases the country’s import bill and creates inflation/rupee pressure.
The rupee is another major concern. It closed around ₹95.70/$ on Thursday, while traders remain concerned about further pressure from expensive oil and dollar demand.
Global cues
Asian markets are mixed/weak, and US Treasury yields remain an important concern. The combination of higher oil + bond-market stress + geopolitical uncertainty could limit the upside even if Indian indices open higher.
Nifty setup
Nifty closed Thursday at 24,231.85, recovering after seven consecutive losing sessions. The immediate question today is whether this recovery can continue or whether selling will emerge again near higher levels.
What can change the market direction?
Positive: FII buying, stable rupee, cooling crude, stronger Asian/US futures and sustained buying in banks.
Negative: Brent remaining above $90–93, further rupee weakness, escalation in West Asia, rising US yields and renewed FII selling.
FPIs were net sellers of about ₹583 crore, while DIIs bought around ₹3,538 crore in the previous session, so institutional flows will remain important today.
Bottom line: I would keep RailTel, Saatvik Green Energy, and Welspun Corp, B.L. Kashyap & Sons on the stock-specific watchlist, but for the overall Nifty/Sensex direction, crude oil + rupee + global bond yields + FII flows are more important today than any single company announcement.
