Aluwind Infra-Tech Enters Solar Façade Market Through Strategic BIPV Partnership

Aluwind Infra-Tech Limited (NSE: ALUWIND) has entered into a Strategic Partnership Agreement with Solar Scape LLP to jointly promote and develop Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) and Solar Façade solutions in India.

The partnership marks Aluwind Infra-Tech’s entry into the emerging intersection of façade technology, architecture and renewable energy, as the company looks to leverage its more than three decades of experience in the façade and fenestration industry.

Aluwind Infra-Tech Partners with Solar Scape for BIPV Solutions

Under the strategic partnership, Aluwind Infra-Tech will combine its established industry relationships, façade expertise and market presence with Solar Scape’s capabilities in solar glass and BIPV technology.

The objective is to develop and promote solutions that can turn conventional building façades into energy-generating surfaces.

Instead of relying exclusively on rooftop areas for solar generation, BIPV technology integrates photovoltaic components directly into architectural elements of buildings.

These applications can include:

  • Glazing
  • Cladding
  • Spandrels
  • Louvers
  • Shading systems

The approach allows the building envelope to serve both its traditional architectural function and an additional renewable-energy generation function.

Solar Façades Address Rooftop Solar Limitations

India’s solar energy capacity has expanded rapidly. According to the company’s announcement, India’s installed solar capacity reached approximately 164.6 GW as of July 31, 2026, including more than 30.7 GW of grid-connected rooftop solar.

However, the company believes that conventional rooftop solar faces limitations in increasingly dense urban environments.

As buildings become taller, the available rooftop area does not increase proportionately with the electricity demand generated by those buildings. Solar façades and BIPV systems seek to address this challenge by using the building envelope as an additional surface for solar power generation.

This could be particularly relevant for high-rise commercial buildings, data centres and other large urban developments where electricity consumption is substantial but rooftop space is relatively limited.

The company is supported by its founder Dr. Neelkanth Dhere, who brings specialized expertise and experience in the solar glass and BIPV segment.

The partnership combines this technology expertise with Aluwind’s existing capabilities in architectural façades and fenestration.
