Godrej Consumer Products Inaugurates Fourth Manufacturing Unit at Malanpur With ₹480 Crore Investment
Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has inaugurated its fourth manufacturing unit at Malanpur, Madhya Pradesh, marking a major expansion of its manufacturing footprint and strengthening its long-term commitment to the state. The facility was inaugurated on August 26, 2026, in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and GCPL Executive Chairperson Nisaba Godrej.
₹480 Crore Expansion Takes Malanpur Investment Above ₹850 Crore
GCPL has been operating at Malanpur since 1991. Spread across 65 acres in the Malanpur Industrial Area in Bhind district, the company’s manufacturing ecosystem at the location has now received cumulative investment of more than ₹850 crore. The latest expansion involves an investment of nearly ₹480 crore.
Over more than three decades, the Malanpur facility has developed into an important manufacturing hub for GCPL, producing products across soaps, hair colours, household insecticides and other consumer categories. The latest unit further expands the company’s production capabilities and strengthens its manufacturing infrastructure in India.
Asia’s Largest Integrated Soap Manufacturing Facility
According to GCPL, the expansion makes Malanpur home to Asia’s largest integrated soap manufacturing facility. The soap manufacturing lines at the site are capable of producing up to 4,000 soap bars per minute.
The company’s total soap manufacturing capacity at Malanpur has increased to more than 2 lakh metric tonnes per annum. The facility has also been designed to manufacture a wider range of GCPL’s leading products and brands, including Cinthol, Godrej No.1, GoodKnight, Godrej Aer and Godrej Expert Hair Colour.
Expansion Expected to Generate ₹3,800 Crore Turnover
GCPL Executive Chairperson Nisaba Godrej said the company expects the expanded facility to generate approximately ₹3,800 crore in turnover once fully operational.
The expansion also represents a long-standing partnership between GCPL and Madhya Pradesh, dating back to the company’s entry into Malanpur manufacturing operations in 1991. The company highlighted the role of the facility in creating employment opportunities and supporting greater participation of women in manufacturing.
Automation and Digitisation to Improve Production Efficiency
The new manufacturing unit incorporates advanced automation and digitisation, with high-speed production lines designed to operate at nearly three times the speed of GCPL’s existing lines.
According to GCPL Managing Director and CEO Aasif Malbari, the technology-led expansion is expected to significantly improve production efficiency while increasing the company’s manufacturing capacity.
The facility is also expected to support GCPL’s ability to manufacture multiple product categories from the Malanpur location, providing greater scale and flexibility to its overall supply chain.
Focus on Sustainability and Green Manufacturing
The expanded facility has also been developed with a focus on environmental responsibility. GCPL said the facility follows the guidelines of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) as part of its broader sustainability objectives.
The investment therefore combines manufacturing expansion with automation, sustainability and operational efficiency, supporting GCPL’s long-term strategy of building a stronger and more responsible manufacturing network.
Stronger Manufacturing Base for GCPL
The Malanpur expansion is strategically important for Godrej Consumer Products as the company continues to strengthen its presence across emerging markets. GCPL currently serves around 1.4 billion consumers globally and has significant positions in household insecticides, hair care, hair colour, soaps, air fresheners and wet tissues.
In India, the company is a leader in household insecticides and hair colour and ranks among the leading players in soaps. Its portfolio includes several established consumer brands across household and personal care categories.
The new Malanpur unit is expected to add further manufacturing capacity and support the company’s ability to meet growing demand across its product portfolio.
Management Commentary
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said GCPL’s long-standing presence in Malanpur reflects the state’s partnership with industry and its growing position as a manufacturing and investment destination. He also highlighted the facility’s contribution to employment, industrial development and women’s participation in the workforce.
Nisaba Godrej said the expansion reflects GCPL’s 35-year partnership with Madhya Pradesh and its commitment to creating opportunities for women in manufacturing.
Aasif Malbari highlighted the role of automation and digitisation in improving production efficiency, while also noting that the company’s cumulative investment in Malanpur has crossed ₹850 crore.
Investor Takeaway
For investors, the key takeaway from the announcement is that GCPL is making a significant capacity investment in its domestic manufacturing network. The ₹480 crore expansion, more than 2 lakh tonnes per annum of soap manufacturing capacity, advanced automation and management’s ₹3,800 crore turnover expectation at full operationalisation are the major highlights.
The expansion could provide GCPL with additional capacity to support future volume growth while improving manufacturing efficiency and strengthening its supply-chain capabilities.
