GK Energy Wins ₹454.50 Crore Rooftop Solar Contract for 100 MW Projects

GK Energy Limited (NSE: GKENERGY; BSE: 544525) has received a Letter of Empanelment (LOE) from a leading State Government-owned power distribution utility for the execution of Grid-Connected Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Projects.

Under the empanelment, GK Energy has been allocated 1,00,000 rooftop solar projects of 1 kW each, taking the total capacity to 100 MW. The projects will be installed across 1,00,000 households, with an aggregate contract value of approximately ₹454.50 crore, including GST.

The announcement was made by the company on August 26, 2026, under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations.

GK Energy Gets ₹454.50 Crore Rooftop Solar Order

The contract covers the installation of 1,00,000 grid-connected rooftop solar PV systems, with each project having a capacity of 1 kW.

The contract rate has been fixed at ₹45,450 per kW, including GST, resulting in an overall contract value of approximately ₹454.50 crore including GST.

The projects will be installed at 1,00,000 households, making the order significant in terms of both scale and number of installations.

100 MW Rooftop Solar Capacity to Be Installed

The total allocation under the LOE is 100 MW.

GK Energy will undertake the complete execution cycle, covering:

  • Design
  • Engineering
  • Supply of solar PV systems
  • Installation
  • Testing
  • Commissioning
  • Operation and maintenance

The company will also provide O&M services for five years as part of the contract.

Projects to Be Executed Within 60 Days

According to the company’s regulatory disclosure, the projects are required to be executed within 60 days from the issuance of the respective work order.

The LOE has been awarded by a State Government-owned power distribution utility, making the project a domestic contract.

The nature of the order is classified as a one-time contract.

No Promoter Interest or Related Party Transaction

GK Energy has disclosed that neither its promoter or promoter group nor any group company has an interest in the entity awarding the contract.

The company has also confirmed that the contract does not constitute a related party transaction.

This means the project has been awarded by an independent domestic utility without any disclosed promoter or group-company interest in the awarding entity.

Rooftop Solar Expansion Creates Opportunity for GK Energy

The latest order comes amid India’s continued expansion of distributed renewable energy and rooftop solar installations.

Rooftop solar allows households to generate electricity closer to the point of consumption, reducing dependence on conventional grid power and supporting the broader transition toward renewable energy.

Large-scale household solar programmes also create opportunities for companies involved in solar system design, supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance.

For GK Energy, the 100 MW allocation provides a substantial project pipeline and strengthens its position in the rooftop solar segment.

Complete Project Execution Scope

GK Energy will be responsible for the complete implementation of the rooftop solar systems.

The scope begins with design and engineering and extends through supply, installation, testing and commissioning. Following installation, the company will also provide operation and maintenance services for five years.

This integrated scope gives GK Energy involvement across the complete project lifecycle rather than limiting its role to equipment supply.

Key Numbers from the GK Energy Solar Order

The latest announcement has several important figures for investors to track.

Contract value: Approximately ₹454.50 crore including GST

Total capacity: 100 MW

Number of projects: 1,00,000

Capacity per household: 1 kW

Contract rate: ₹45,450 per kW including GST

O&M period: Five years

Execution timeline: Within 60 days from respective work-order issuance

Order type: One-time

Awarding entity: State Government-owned power distribution utility

What This Order Means for GK Energy

The ₹454.50 crore contract is a significant addition to GK Energy’s solar project pipeline, particularly because it covers 1,00,000 individual household installations.

The project provides the company with an opportunity to scale its rooftop solar execution capabilities while building a longer-term O&M relationship through the five-year maintenance period.

The key factors investors may watch going forward include the issuance of individual work orders, the pace of project execution within the stipulated 60-day period, installation volumes, and the company’s ability to execute such a large number of distributed solar projects efficiently.

With India continuing to expand renewable energy and rooftop solar adoption, the latest empanelment positions GK Energy to participate in the growing household solar market.
